Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

What I love about eye care at Optical Consultants is the incredible customer service I got. Everyone there had my best interest in mind, educating me on my prescription, style, price, fit and options. I ended up getting two pairs of glasses because I found out there was a solution to the eye and neck strain I was experiencing while working on my computer...monitor lenses. Bill and Laurie explained and answered all questions. To trust that I have the very best for my eyes is a wonderful thing. THANKS!

Will never return to this establishment. They are dishonest and will get every penny they can from you. I tried to order another 6 month supply of contacts from them and they refused to order them until I had another appointment even though my prescription was good for another 3 months. I called Oconomowoc Vision and they were happy to order them for me. Now, they will not release my daughter’s prescription to me. She just had her exam and has worn the trial pair. We know that we want to order from 1-800-contacts and they are holding her prescription hostage. Dirtbags.

I have been to many vision providers around the area. The very first thing is that they hound you for frames, frames, frames, and Sir do you want frames. My experience here was so much better. I know what i want and why i am there and do not need a sales pitch. Here I did not get one. The people there were very nice and accommodating, efficient. I do not think I could have spend less time there then I did. I found the frames I needed and the staff helped me pick them, advising me with the right information. It is not often that I walk out of a store being thrilled with the service provided. This time I was. I think I found my eye glass provided for the next ten years. Update: Just stopped by today to have new lenses installed. A pleasure.

Lenscrsfters gives free trial pairs with visit! So does stein optical! Herslof charged me 70 bucks for a trial pair of contact lenses.... i necer heard of being charged for trials. doctor told me I needed astigmatism lenses even tho there was almost zero difference. I felt forced to get the expensive trial pair lenses when I should've just gotten the 40 dollar pair of trial lenses, better yet, i shouldve just gone somewhere else. I will never go back to herslof again. I don't even want to call them to get my prescription! I'm just gonna go get a prescription from the lenscrafters right by my house. The whole thing will probably cost less than the trial pair they charged me for. Never again.
