Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I've never had a single issue here before. I love Dr. Ambrose! She's gentle & has great patient interaction, she even entertained my 9 yr old I had to bring last minute. I went to another location but quickly came back to her. She listens, answers all questions, takes time with you. I've never felt rushed in & out once in her office. I highly recommend them as your Optometrist. I can't speak for the eye glasses or contact side of it as I haven't dealt with them for that as of yet. But the Doctor's office side of it should definitely have 5 stars! The front desk ladies are pretty awesome too! I'll be switching both my kids to them the next time they're due for their eye exams. Thanks Dr. Ambrose & team!

Dr McCarty is wonderful to work with and very kind. She asked all the right questions and really helped with some eye issues I’ve been experiencing! I also want to complement Mr Burke and Rose in the eyewear department! They were very professional and patient with me while I was trying to decide on my glasses. They helped me pick out the pair I eventually chose - this ended up being a great suggestion! Rose & Mr Burke couldn’t be nicer - what a great team! I will continue to drive to Grafton for my eye exams!

The staff is so welcoming and friendly. They greet their patients by name as soon as they walk in the door. They continue through the appointment with friendliness and great professionalism. Dr. McQuain takes his time, is very knowledgeable and does not hesitate answering questions. My whole family sees him, and we all feel very comfortable with his level of care and expertise.

All staff members that served me today at myeyedr in Grafton could not have been any better or more professional. Ariel at the front desk, Dr. Maharty, and Jay Burke in the optometry store were top notch workers. They were all very customer friendly and were conscientious workers. I could easily tell that customer satisfaction was their first priority. They listened carefully concerning my concerns and interests and offered suggestions that suited me best, and explained clearly the reasons for their suggestions. Everyone was patient, detailed and excellent in communication. I could not have asked for better service -- and I have been to different optometry offices where people really needed to up their game imho. Thank you Myeyedr in Grafton for your excellent service and for being an example to the community.

Absolutely ridiculous, my wife called the main number and was placed on automated telephonic "hold," for 5 minutes and finally hung up the phone. She was trying to see if the vision department was open. I looked up the direct number for this department and called in which I was also placed on hold 4 minutes when I hung up as well! Wal-Mart Yorktown this customer service is unacceptable! I am considering calling corp an reporting. The cash register lines are also ridiculously long and have minimal man power forcing you to use self checkout which I despise! This customer service is influencing me to shop with other businesses.
