Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

The Visit today was Great, explained I need eye operation before prescription can be wrote. Staff was friendly and checked my eyes for diseases with modern equipment and explained everything to me. Lenscrafter even scheduled me for eye operation. I had to do nothing but show up. No wait at all.

I had an excellent experience getting my new pair of glasses yesterday. Renee the sales person was top notch professional, courteous, and very knowledgeable. Pearl vision is so lucky to have her! She also helped me 2 years ago!

Took months to get my prescription right. I was given trials and never told they came in and told they hadn't come in when they did, because the person working the desk didn't look into the "trial contact" box which was right next to the order contacts. I came to the office to finalize which contacts I was getting "long story about prescription" and wad told they would call back. They didn't and it's been 3 weeks.

The visit went very smoothly, working with the tech at the office, then speaking remotely with the doctor. My only issue has to do with the retinal imaging used instead of the drops, since no doctor was physically in the office. I don’t think I should have been charged extra for that, because of how you’re having to help patients. My insurance won’t cover it, but I think under the circumstances Friendly Eyes shouldn’t charge extra for it in the first place. Or work out something with the insurance carrier. That $40 may not sound like much, but it’s a big deal for me. I would have rescheduled had I known about this in advance.

Neil Gillespie  |  Rating: 5  |  Kartesz Eye Care

My wife recommended Kartesz Eye Care, and I'm glad she did. I'm very grateful for how attentive, friendly, and professional each member of the staff was. The initial comprehensive eye exam (with retinal photos & testing) used very modern equipment and seemed very thorough. During Dr. Kartesz's optical exam, he patiently answered all my questions, and he worked hard to find the best prescription for my glasses -- and I'm picky about visual acuity! Thanks Dr.K! And finally, the optician not only helped me make a great decision on my frames (saving me an additional $200), but she also took quite a bit of her time to help measure and map out the zones for my progressive lenses, which will help me to see better for years to come. Thanks to all of you at Kartesz Eye Care!
