Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?
Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?
Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.
What should you do before buying glasses?
Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.
What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?
The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.
How do I know which glasses fit my face?
It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.
Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?
With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Dr. Thota and her staff take their time to ensure a thorough eye exam. They are true professionals, while still maintaining a family-like atmosphere. We always look forward to our visits. Paul Garza and his team next door ensure we look and feel our best in our glasses. Love all of them!
Ashley Henry | Rating: 1 | Urias Eyecare
I was really looking forward to my appointment after reading so many good reviews. I didn't receive the same service I read about. I paid full price out of network hoping I would leave with contacts I could see great out of and wear with no issue. Dr. Urias acted like I was putting him out when asking to move back and forth between lenses during my exam. Sighing every time I asked him to go back to either number 3 or number 4, etc. I apologized to him stating I really wanted to be sure (since I was having trouble getting a good prescription) and no reply or acknowledgment of what I said. An assistant brought me contacts to put in and they were never checked for fit on my eyes. No mention of my dry eyes, or questions about any issues I have. I have been wearing contacts for 20 years and a Dr. has always checked the fit of them before I have left. During check out Dr. Urias was at the counter and couldn't even acknowledge me again. Not a thank you, how do the contacts feel, not a word. I left in contacts I couldn't see out of, even mentioning to the girls up front and they said to just wear them for a few days. (The staff was very nice) I have never felt more disrespected by a Dr. before and I definitely didn't enjoy paying almost $200 to be treated that way.
Dan Insley | Rating: 4 | Dr. Greg Hogan of Midland
Dr. Hogan did a great job on getting my prescription right. I can see better than I have for years! The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is I didn't feel that I was adequately warned about the cost for the retinal scan. But I definitely plan to return as long as Dr. Hogan is there.
Leasa Freeman | Rating: 5 | McAndrew's Eye Clinic
I have worked with Dr. McAndrew and known him for many years and may I just say he is a one of a kind when it comes to eye doctors. His kind, jovial and positive attitude are to be commended. I send him all of my referrals and as an optician, I can honestly say, I have never had a wrong RX by him. Dr. Mc, you rock!
