Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

sign outside says walkins welcome! they tell you they can work you in between patients they however do not mention that the doctor is old & takes forever along with the staff in the back. Be prepared to wait around for hours and hours and watch everyone else leave… hours later. This place is great for older folks that have nothing but time on their hands to sit around and just wait and wait. Horrible experience… DO NOT RECOMMEND. take your business elsewhere. again DO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME COMING HERE! they should remove their walk-in sign (false advertisement) ..they don’t tell u what ur responsible for paying till the end they surprise you with the bill. & they don’t even distribute your contact yes go waist more time having to go somewhere else for that.

Domonik Guerra  |  Rating: 5  |  DHR Health Eye Institute Armando Reyes OD.

Best eye clinic in the RGV and best eye clinic I've ever been to. Doctor Armando Reyes and his staff were a great service and i must say the optometrist assistant was beautiful and so professional hopefully she sees this. I will definitely be coming back and going here from now on thanks Doctor Reyes.

Dj R  |  Rating: 3  |  RGV Family Eye Care Dr. Landon L. Liska

Staffs' service mindset toward customers (they did not inform me anything important such as close/open schedules, next appointment, and readiness of glasses) seems like "who cares" mindsets. The only good experience at this time was Dr. Liska. He was exceptionally nice/kind and knowledgeable.

Keta Zambrano  |  Rating: 5  |  Eyemart Express

Great experience. I came forward an explained to the lady, which I did not get her name, that it would be private pay and I wanted to make use of a coupon that came in the mail. She definitely understood me and and helped me throughout the process helping me get the best deal. Thank you Eyemart Express! Keep up that that good customer service and friendly staff like that lady that helped me.

Elsa Felix  |  Rating: 5  |  LensCrafters at Macy's

I absolutely loved service at this location! After YEARS of shopping at Lens & Crafters and never truly being happy with the products, I finally found the store for me! I live in San Antonio and was visiting family in McAllen when I decided to go in and return prescribed sunglasses I was NOT happy about. The manager Jessica was so lovely and caring! She convinced me to give them one more try, we tried a different pair that was much nicer and even less expensive. She actually took my measurements correctly unlike other locations, when the arrived at her store she shipped them to me overnight! Ive always been the kind of customer to drive the extra mile for good customer service. This location is obviously way out of my area, but trust me when I tell you I will keep going back every time I need new glasses. The service was exceptional from beginning to end and so worth the drive.
