Contact lenses are small lenses that are in "contact" with your eyes. They are designed to correct refractive errors and keep your eyes healthy. The lenses are in the tear film on the cornea. Modern contact lenses are small lenses worn over the cornea of the eye. Modern contact lenses whether soft or hard. Most people wear soft contact lenses, but it wasn't that long ago that lenses were made of glass. Colored contact lenses can make your eyes more intense or completely change the color of your eyes, and costume contact lenses can help create special effects seen on the big screen.

What is the difference between glasses and contact lenses?

Unlike glasses, contact lenses do not limit the field of vision. With glasses, the field of vision is limited, causing people to have to turn their head to see something from the side.

Can I sleep in contact lenses?

Modern soft contact lenses allow enough oxygen to the eye, but when you sleep, your eyes are closed and, therefore, the access of oxygen to them is reduced.

What are the harms of contact lenses?

Prolonged contact lens wear causes the cornea to thin (keratocytes lose their ability to synthesize new tissue). This can happen even with proper lens wear 3-5 years after use. In the case of reaction to hypoxia (lack of oxygen), the main complication is the formation of new blood vessels.

Adrian was the tech who saw my son. He was the most unprofessional person I have dealt with in eye care in a long time. I asked him multiple times to stop encouraging my son to skip school, play hookie etc and he just kept up his antics. He spent more time encouraging my son to do things I told him were not allowed in our home than he did actually providing my son the pre vision tests. We will not be back at all. I am very thankful we were able to transfer the exam results to EyeGlass World!

I used to go here as a kid and loved it. Now, I tried to bring my children on 2 different occasions (Wednesday afternoon and Saturday afternoon) to be turned away. Even though the hours say one thing, don't bother going if it is in the last hour of opening because they either didn't have time for a walk-in, or there wasn't a doctor there. What kind of customer service is that?? If your hours say one thing, you should follow them. More than one doctor works there, yet they all leave early before the shop is even closed? Horrible customer service. Very big disappointment as I used to be a customer myself and hate seeing the fall of a once successful business. You need to fire all your front office staff and rebuild with more friendly faces.

Bailey Denison  |  Rating: 5  |  Dr. Steven Mathews OD, PhD

I feel terrible for just now rating Dr Matthews but he has been my doctor for many years (through high school and college). I am blind in my left eye and he worked a plan with me to cosmetically assist my needs as well as going above and beyond to make sure the plan could sustain as long as possible. Dr Matthews really gave me hope and confidence in a very difficult time in my life. I am very grateful to have found him and will continue to work with him for the foreseeable future.
