Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?
Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?
Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.
What should you do before buying glasses?
Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.
What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?
The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.
How do I know which glasses fit my face?
It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.
Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?
With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Worst receptionist! cheap Over priced glasses and every glasses you like are not available they take too long to get your order in and sometimes they even forget about your order the doctor is rude and he rushed with my kids Even with 2 different insurance we had to pay over $150 we went somewhere else and was able to get name brand any kind of glasses with our insurance no money out of pocket.

Bad experience definitely was a mistake and not going back to Dr Mendoza. I explained the situation from the beginning, long story short my daughter is being seeing by eye specialist at the Childrens hospital, and only needed the prescription for glasses (my next appointment with the specialist is until December and she can’t be without glasses) unfortunately we missed our appointment in July with the specialist and their next available appointment is on December. Yes I get it that him as Dr needs all the medical info which I provided, and like I said from the beginning I told what I needed, if he had a problem with that they should have say no. Anyways, for sure not going back!

Been coming here for several years purchasing 3-5 pair of glasses. Don't remember exactly how many. Was recommended by a friend. Offers top of the line lenses for considerably less than name brand retail opticians. It is worth the drive. In the past week, I purchased a new pair, more expensive than Costco but in my opinion Costco doesn't offer the same quality or service.
Harry | Rating: 5 | Oculens Optical Shop
I am a board certified MD, and am quite particular about my eyeglasses and vision. Oculens Optical is the only place in the Dallas metro area I'll visit for prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses. Their selection of frames is extensive and impressive. The opticians are well acquainted with all lens options. More importantly, Mr. Corley, Mr. Smith, and Ruth will patiently work with you until the work is done perfectly. They are knowledgeable, helpful, and pay attention to all details.

I would highly recommend that all potential customers take their business elsewhere. My wife and I scheduled an appointment which ended up being a total waste of our time. First, we were told that our insurance “couldn’t be verified” even though we are insured. I asked the lady who was working, she was totally clueless, if we could log onto our account and present our IDs. Once we “confirmed” our insurance, she proceeded to tell us that our appointment will only be covered if we purchased lenses from them. No mention of that prior to booking the appointment. In terms of why wouldn’t purchases lenses from them… their selection, and I’m being benevolent, is underwhelming.
