Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Eye exam completed 4-12-22 with new prescription. Picked out new pair of glasses. Assisted by Optician Keona Thomas. Paid $704.80 to Total Optical for glasses inscribed BCBGMAXAZRIA - Frame made in Italy. A few weeks later the right arm of the frame fell off. Returned the glasses for repair 6-3-22. Glasses had to be shipped to another location for repairs. Even though glasses included a warranty, I was charged a $25 shipping fee per Keona. Took two to three weeks to receive the glasses back. Had to wear an older pair of glasses during that time. After wearing the repaired glasses for a few weeks, the left arm of the frame fell off while I was sitting in church. Called Total Optical; reported the problem to Keona, asked to speak to supervisor. Was told that Manager, Carmen Rogers was on leave for two weeks. Was advised that glasses would have to be shipped back out and another shipping fee would be required. Unhappy about paying another fee. Was told that Carmen would be consulted on her return and would properly address the issue. Agreed to bring glasses back on or about 8-15-22. On 8-16-22 went to Total Optical. Gave glasses to Optician Keith Gardner. Carmen was at her desk. There was no greeting; no "I’m sorry"; no "May I help you?" She did not talk to me at all. My husband and I watched as Keith worked on the glasses as instructed by Carmen. He gave her the glasses to view when it appeared that the problem had been resolved. She kept telling him to do further work on the glasses more than three times as observed by me and my husband. Keith further worked on the glasses for an extended period of time. When Carmen gave him the okay, Keith returned the glasses to me. He said that I could not wear the glasses for 24 hours maybe wait 1 ½ days. Also advised that I probably would not be able to fold them when sitting them down or to place them in the case. I took the glasses home. Noticed they looked weird. Didn’t realize until my husband told me – that the glasses were glued – instead of screwed. I wore the defective glasses a few times - my husband insisted that I take them back. Returned to Total Optical to speak with Carmen. She was out of the office. Asked for name of head of this organization. Referred to Winnie Lee – at this office. Explained dilemma. Glasses shipped away for repair. Was told that the fee would be waived (you think?). Maybe two weeks later - Carmen called me with a friendly voice to state that I could pick up the glasses. When I came to get the glasses days later, Carmen was on leave. Received glasses from Kevin. Was satisfied with the repair. Had appointment with Dr. Andy Lee, Total Eye Care 10-3-22. Entered Total Optical (closer to handicap parking) and later exited through the same door. Carmen looked up while talking to someone at her desk when we left to go home. She never spoke to me or my husband –just briefly looked up. Keona Thomas and Keith Gardner have provided excellent service. They are courteous; kind; patient and very respectful. Keith provided information when asked and was courteous to other clients while attending to this time consuming and troublesome dilemma. He and Keona made sure that my husband and I received adequate attention without compromising their integrity. Ms Lee was very kind while addressing the matter swiftly and satisfactorily. The glasses have been worn now for a few weeks without further trouble. Keith Gardner; Keona Thomas and Dr. Lee deserve a rating of 10+. Ms Lee is rated 3 due to limited assistance. Carmen 0 customer skills. Total Eye Care staff have always provided excellent service.

After setting up an appointment on two different times, both my husband and son were turned away. They request your insurance information over the phone and tell you that take your insurance. But they turn you away, because they don’t have much knowledge in medical billing. So to not have to handle it they rather send you away.

For someone who was very inexperienced with glasses, Keith was very attentive and supportive with assisting me with selecting and purchasing my first pair of glasses. His attention to detail and personable decorum put me at ease, which reduced my anxiety about the whole experience. I would highly recommend Total Optical and Keith for the next time you are looking for eyewear.

Tried this place out because of the "Good Reviews" never again coming here. Front Desk was nice and fast. Dr. Peterson never again, walked in the room just a "hello" is all we got, not an introduction, as my kids were new patients that's what one expects, test was not done properly. My 17 yr old son was in another room alone said the same thing Dr. Peterson just walked in with no introduction whatsoever. My son was confused as to who he was. Things were done in such a rush. Thanks but no thanks.

I didn't have a problem with the doctor, but I had a big one with the older blonde lady receptionist. She was very rude and talked down to me because I told her I did not want to buy contacts with them, that I would check out prices first. She hassled me about my decision to not buy their contacts, then when the doctor came to her receptionist desk, as I was standing there just trying to pay my bill, she exclaimed to the doctor in a angry tone "did you know he said he's not buying contacts?!". The doctor told her she knew and to just ring me up for the exam only. I am not petty and I don't complain about non-issues, but it is a very small place and I felt like I was being talked down to while all the people in the waiting room could hear the whole exchange. I felt so embarrassed and couldn't believe I was being talked to like that. I will not be going back this year for my annual exam, no way in heck.
