Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I took my 6 year old daughter in to Dr. Marshall for an eye infection and the whole experience was awesome. The staff was friendly and thorough, and Dr. Marshall was so nice and made my daughter feel so comfortable for her first eye exam. They did a normal eye exam- they made it like a game for her- and then checked the infected eye. Dr. Marshall was very gentle, and my daughter- who is normally a bit shy- felt comfortable answering his questions. We'll bring the whole family back for sure!

Had something stuck in my eye while working and couldn't get it out. People at the front desk were super nice to me and the optician I saw was just as friendly. Really nice place to have my first eye exam.

Dr Cheryl Jansen and team (especially Tracie) are the best OD's in Austin (actually in the world). They have assisted our family for decades! I cannot more highly recommend such a competent and caring group. They have nursed me through Bell's Palsy and cataract surgery. I have utmost confidence in their skills, both for eye exams, contact lenses and glasses. Quality abounds.

Never have I ever experienced such a horrible health shopping experience! I saved my money and ordered my favorite pair of Warby Parker frames. I took them there to be completed. They were done on time. I took them home, sitting in the sun so they would darken. They never did. My doctor ordered transitions because of my macular degeneration. I also told him when ordering the first time. He then sent me a brown pair when mine were pink. I got 300.00 back with a struggle. He documented a bunch of lies in case i wrote a bad review. I don't care about that and i just filed it away in my index file. I normally don't write reviews but this experience needed to be shared so potential customers will be aware and be very careful especially if you have brought your own frame. I think he broke mine and tried to substitute a brown framed pair. He said that i broke them and begged him to help me get another pair so he made a pair with brown frames. This is not true!

Brandi and Donovan were awesome! They were both very welcoming upon entering the store and provided excellent customer service with my glasses. Also to add, they handled a situation with a very rude lady that was yelling at them for no reason with charisma, a calm tone, and a professional demeanor. I was seriously shook at how professionally that was handled because the lady was seriously belittling them. They’re such nice people! And Brandi’s energy is so vibrant
