Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I had the most comprehensive eye exam. Dr. Domiano was incredible and very thorough. I am very selective in what I wear and what I want (No, I am not difficult - just particular). I have been to many opticals in the area as well as Manhattan (my hometown). Her display of eyewear is amazing. And, the doctor actually spent her time helping me choose my Silhouette glasses. Again, I am very particular and I found this to be an amazing first-class experience. If you are expecting cheap eyewear then don't waste your time because this is not a LensCrafters or VisionWorks. Trust me, the frames here are top of the line. But, you get what you pay for. Love the place and love the staff. Awesome!

My fiance came here to renew his eyeglass prescription. They only started discussing prices after they dilated his pupils and he went through with the whole exam. He could not even see the eyeglasses she was picking out for him (with a price tag of $200) or the paperwork she shoved for him to sign. Then when he got home and started feeling better he tried to cancel the glasses and just pay for the consultation, but was told that they were already being processed (that was half an hour after the visit and at 6 30 pm). Sure to say he will not come back here.

I would give this business 0 stars if I was allowed. I will NEVER recommend Domiano Eye Care to anyone! They have been extremely difficult to deal with and are always looking for ways to up-sell or force you into spending more money with them. To date, we have spent nearly $1,000 on exams, contacts and glasses for my son and myself (and that's WITH insurance!). Everything we have needed has been a struggle and required multiple phone calls and office visits. I've felt like they were always trying to swindle us for more money with every single dealing I've had with them. The doctor is friendly, however, the customer service is awful. They don't care about their patients only the money that they hope to suck out of them. They will NOT be getting another dime from me. And, I would strongly DISCOURAGE anyone from ever going there.

They were rude. They made me pay upfront and get reimbursed by my insurance. When I requested my prescription, they gave me one for my glasses and not my contacts.. and no one ever told me they are two different things. I ended up ordering contacts elsewhere and getting the wrong prescription because of this. I heard bad things about this place and gave them a shot anyway and now I really regret it.

The doctor was very nice, but I have worn contacts and glasses my whole life and worn the same prescription for both eyes she wrote 2 different prescriptions for my contacts. I called my doctor in Florida and he said it was likely she was trying to make more money by selling me more boxes for each eye. I got my glasses from him 2 months ago and they are both the same script for each eye. She charges for trials and simular frames I bought in Florida I paid $175 less and they are the same designer as well. They are about the money not about the person or the return of the person. Also the fitting was 70 and boscovs was only going to charge 40. I wish I would of stayed with them. I won't return
