Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

My husband had a exam was great, no complaints. After the exam he was paired with Derek. Nice, no-nonsense guy, that was fine. My problem is that he didn’t explain anything to us, HE just decided what my husband needed and presented us with a price. My husband didn’t feel like arguing about it and since their computer system kept crashing and it was taking so long, we just went with it. My husband only uses glasses for distance, yet, in order to pad his commission, Derek decided he needed a bifocal for reading, even though we told him he didn’t use them for reading. Also, the selection of frames, not great! We have to pick them up in two weeks, we’ll see how they are, but I’d never go back. Update: Glasses were ready for pickup, but no one called us. Luckily we called them to find out when they’d be ready and were told they were there. My decision stands…I won’t go back.

For 40 years I’ve seen various opticians, optometrists and been to many vision centers. This is the best experience I ever had! Not only are the prices very reasonable but the staff is fabulous! Not pushy like many places and truly serving the customer with what they want! No hard sell here which happens at their competitors. Dr. Ellsworth is the best Optometrist I’ve ever “seen”. He is friendly, caring and spends the necessary time with you. I was able to ask a lot of questions and he truly listened to me! Thank you

Cindy was the most pleasant sweetest person to work with. She was very knowledgeable and helpful when I ordered my glasses. My glasses were ready in a week I was so happy with the turnaround time. I highly recommend ordering glasses from BJs wholesale.

About three weeks ago, I visited BJ's Optical and set up an order for new eyeglasses and sunglasses. Because I was still working out a paperwork issue with my medical flexible spending account, the optician (Pamela) took down the information about which frames I wanted and my prescription info. I was to call BJ's when I got the payment situation squared away. When I called today, I was told by another optician at the counter that BJ's had thrown away my documentation because "we can only keep that information for about a week or a week-and-a-half, and it had been over two weeks." Well, it would have been nice to inform me of the very flimsy-sounding "policy", or to at least have called me before they destroyed the order form. Now I'll have to return to BJ's and go through the whole selection and ordering process again. I am a repeat customer of BJ's Optical, and now this incident has cast doubt on what had been a perfectly pleasant customer-relationship history.

Excellent experience! BJs Optical absolutely nailed the two prescriptions – spot on! Return customer and even more pleased this time! Cindy was excellent, very friendly, patient, thorough and has excellent attention to detail. She treats you like you are the only customer they have. Never rushed but still very efficient and accurate. Great selection, excellent prices. Both my progressive distance and computer glasses are excellent! Great fit and they give me sparkling clear vision. Will return again – highly recommend giving them a try!
