Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I seen Dr. Flickinger, on 6/8/18, she was very nice and seem concerned for her patients. However the Optical dept is another story. From the moment I arrived at the Optical dept, they were very rude, disrespectful, they keep telling me I have a balance from 2005 I need to pay cash, I asked for proof and get nothing, I speak to Michael who is in charge of all NEI Optical dept's, and he tells me nothing of the sort and he assured me he would take care of it. Needless to say he did not, I was told on today date to pick up my glasses and refund the home office refuses to make my glasses. After they have my glasses for over a week and making me and my eyes worse, I now need to wait another week and go some where else to have them made. Paul who is the General manager told me this, I got upset and had to resort to curse, and he threatened to call cops on me because of something they did. If you have great insurance and have money they love you and treat you like King, but if you have no money and state insurance they treat you like 2nd class people, They all brag of what they drive how they live its all you hear about when you arrive there. word of advise if you have state insurance do yourself a favor and go some where else where you will be treated with respect and like you are a person.

Today, I went to NE Eye in Clarks Summit because of a problem with my eyeglasses. The staff were amazing and helped me so much. Can't say enough about them. I've been going there for 6 yeas and have NEVER had a bad experience. Thank you.

Dr Shovlin is amazing but the ball stops there. The staff for fitting glasses does nothing but sit there and give the glasses without trying it on the patient! She takes her job for granted. If that's what she wants she can go and work at Chick-fil-A. You are responsible for making sure that the glasses fit and are level at the very least! Go and take care of your grand babies instead of doing your job right!

The very best exam and contact lens prescription I have ever had and I’ve been wearing contacts since I was very young. The staff are amazing - polite, knowledgeable and really know their stuff. I was lucky enough to find this place and won’t consider going anywhere else. I’ve never had a doctor so thorough and I’ve never had a prescription that quite frankly is so perfect.

The doctors and medical staff here are great! Caring, understanding and patient! The problem is you have to survive the miserable, nasty, rude office staff to check in to finally receive the great care offered here. NEI - these women are so mean to everyone! It's not the best experience when you walk in the door. Dr. Flickinger and his medical staff are amazing. Why do we have to be met with such difficulty when we get to the office?
