Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I always love seeing Dr Nicole. She's patient and caring and also very thorough and has great tools to assess your eyes. I feel really confident they're healthy and I have the best prescription for me. I've also gotten great help picking out frames, twice!

I went in to their office today with a complicated request. The whole staff helped to assist me and my son. They go out of their way to work with you and your individual needs. I highly recommend Modern Eyez Vision Clinic!

A friend had told me about Modern Eyez, her good experience, and that I would really like the atmosphere, not just the product. While West Linn is a little far from my NE dwelling, I decided to make the trek out there to check it out. Not only is there a fabulous display of contemporary, funky, and conservative frame options, but my friend was right: the atmosphere is very comfortable, with fun, knowledgeable staff. I came in for an eye check up and to order new contacts, and felt very well taken care of. My vision had changed only slightly, I walked out with a pair of contacts to wear that day, and my contacts order came in within a few days! They even shipped the order to me to save me the trip. I will definitely return to see Dr. Woods and what new products she has once my insurance allows again.

I have had a really mixed bag of experiences with Modern Eyez. I started going there when Dr. Woods owned the practice, and to be honest, everything was a lot clearer and more organized when she owned it. I don't love the new method of rotating 2-3 patients in and out of the waiting room and into the eye exam room during the same timeframe. My appointments, which used to be a nice 30-40 minutes now take nearly two hours. There is also a serious lack of communication regarding your costs. They "pre-verify" your vision/medical insurance, but you get no estimates, no quotes, NOTHING in writing, and nobody explains any part of what costs you may be responsible for, or what your insurance has agreed to pay for. I never agreed or asked for a "medical" exam but was given one anyway and told it would be "taken care of" by my medical insurance. Nothing was said about having to meet my deductible first. I wasn't given any paperwork at all when I left. Then three months later I was sent a $314 bill. I discussed this with Debbie in the office, and while she was very nice and helpful, even understanding, and did discount the medical exam, I just feel like this is double billing both medical and vision insurances because they can. I was never asked if I wanted the medical exam---it was just done. If this happened in the past, I didn't know about it because I was never given any sort of breakdown of the expenses of the visit. The doctor herself is very kind and I appreciated her "chair"-side manner, and I did appreciate Debbie explaining everything and giving me the discount, but they could use a lot of communication improvements with their regular staff.

After going to another eye doctor for years I decided to try this place because I felt like a number at the other place. As soon as I walked in I felt very welcomed and at ease. The doctor there is amazing and listened to all my concerns. I will be a regular patient here and will be having my family go here as well. This place is a gem and everyone here is amazing. I have nothing but amazing things to say about my experience!
