Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Naomi Baez  |  Rating: 1  |  Hawthorne Vision Center

I've never gone to this place before and was curious to check it out. I called in the morning to ask some questions regarding getting new glasses with my new insurance and the gentleman helping me was really awesome and helpful. Insurance can be a little daunting and he was really patient with me. I made an appointment to get an eye exam just in case my prescription changed. However, I called back in the afternoon with a couple more questions and spoke with Christie. She kept cutting me off, her tone was condescending, and she made me feel like I was stupid for not understanding the insurance immediately and asking questions. She asked if I had anymore questions and I said no. She immediately responded with "okay bye". After that, I didn't even feel comfortable going in so I called to cancel my appointment. I also wanted to get the first gentleman's name so I could shout him out and leave a better review but the woman on the phone, Nina (?) laughed at me.

Austin was absolutely amazing. His customer service was outstanding and he never hesitated to answer my questions or do all he could to make my experience more enjoyable. I am so glad he helped me and I recommend him to all who are looking to have an amazing eyewear experience… Excellent customer service and would see him again without question. I also have to thank Quincy who was so kind and helped me choose a pair of lens that truly helps my confidence as a regular glasses wearer. LensCrafters at Macys is a go to!

I have been seeing Dr. Scott and Dr. Daryn for the last 8 years. Every appointment I go to is better than the last. They really care about my eye health and how I feel in my glasses. Christine is amazing, Destiny and Lynn are all amazing and are what makes the experience seamless. I will continue to go here as long as Dr. Daryn and Dr. Scott are there. And their glasses selection is out of this world. 15/10 would recommend.

Tim and his well-trained staff have always provided courteous and efficient service for me and referrals over the years. Today, I brought in a metal frame belonging to a friend who is physically unable to drive. Tim was immediately available when I walked in, and installed a new eye-wire screw at no charge…with his kindness and generosity, the problem is now fixed and my buddy has his favorite glasses back. Once again, thank you, Tim, and everyone at Asterix! This is the best eyeglass repair shop in town.

Hard to trust and believe this place is honest as their intentions are lacking and they are very money first, customer care second. I have been going to this place for eye exams and glasses off the recommendation of a friend for a couple years now. They initially helped me figure out that I was being over prescribed. Recently I was in a serious car accident and had lots of cuts and bruises around my eyes where my frames shattered on my face. I have been dealing with high eye pressure since the accident and the Dr’s here are claiming it’s related to glaucoma. Except I’m in my early 30s so it’s highly unlikely to be glaucoma. My health insurance is not covered here for the glaucoma visit (which I found out last minute) so I canceled because I didn’t have over $500 for a visit that seemed highly unnecessary. None of the doctors or staff have reached out to check on me and to see if I am able to get seen elsewhere to figure out my high eye pressure. This place is clearly motivated by money and cares very little for their patients health and well-being… unless they are affluent. I would avoid this place if you’re looking for actual personalized care from your health provider. What a let down to be treated like this after spending thousands of dollars on vision visits, frames and lenses.
