Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

My husband and I both went to Dr. Scott, we truly were impressed with the professionalism he showed to us. He is a no non sense guy with a great sense of humor. He knows his stuff and with us being seniors have been to many eye doctors and none of them took care of us the way he did. We highly recommend him for you and your family. Thank you Dr. Scott!

I received a thorough instrumental eye examination and finally feel comfortable wearing contacts again. Dr. Scott is truly passionate about educating others about understanding and caring for their vision.

I cannot recommend this place enough! I went last week for the first time and have had such great interactions with everyone! Dr. Scott was AMAZING. He is so thorough and knows so much and is very passionate about his profession. He helped me understand everything patiently and I learned so much about my eyes that I never knew before! I also was in the process of switching into daily contacts and was given some trials that weren't quite the right fit for me. Dr. Scott immediately ordered 3 different brands in a better fit so that I can find a comfortable brand without any hesitation. Rather than telling me to pick up another brand that didn't fit or just ordering something, he worked to find a solution. His staff are super polite and kind as well and so patient with questions! I've never had such an amazing doctor and overall experience. I'll recommend to everyone I know!

We LOVE the staff and Dr. Sedlacek! He is so patient with both my kids. We have been going here for three years and with one of my children having autism, he is just amazing, patient and very thorough with their exams! He is very knowledgeable and helpful!

After living in this community for over 10 years and still driving to the east side to an optometrist I had been with for 25+ years, I made the decision to seek out a provider close to home. Within hours of sending a message on the website, I was contacted and got an appointment with the Eye Place. My experience with Dr. Scott was excellent. He not only took his time, listened to my needs/concerns, but shared more information with me than I had ever known before. He provided follow up visits and altered my prescription until it was just right. I've since moved my whole family to his practice ~ including my daughter with special needs with whom he was VERY VERY patient and good with! I highly recommend Dr. Scott and his team! You will be well taken care of!
