Eye exams is a procedure to evaluate the functions of the eye that provide normal vision. Namely, how the size, shape, and color of objects are perceived, as well as their location relative to each other. Eye exams are necessary for the timely detection of abnormalities and successful correction. Eye exams include accurate determination of the patient's visual acuity and refraction, intraocular pressure measurements, microscopic examination of the eye (biomicroscopy), pachymetry (corneal thickness measurement), echobiometry (eye length determination), ultrasound eye examination (B-scan), computer keratotopography and thorough retinal (eye fundus) examination with a wide pupil, tear production level determination and detailed visual field examination of the patient. Various methods are used to test vision, the results of which allow the doctor to identify abnormalities and prescribe a correction.

I've been going to Opticare Vision Center for a number of years. I've never had a problem getting an appointment and the staff that greets me have always been smiling and friendly. The doctors assistants have always explained the testing before actually doing the testing. I've been seeing Dr. Grutzmacher for a long time. I never feel rushed and he's always taken the time to answer my questions. When I've needed glasses due to new prescriptions I usually check around on pricing. While I might spend a fraction more on glasses here, you get what you pay for. Cheap glasses sometimes are just that cheap glasses. There is a difference and I've always been happy with my purchases at Opticare Vision Center on Beechmont Ave.

I recently started going to this practice. Dr Murray was thorough with my exam explaining what she was doing and what we were looking at in the digital images. I ran into a problem with my new insurance this year and Dr Murray really went above and beyond to help me get it resolved. I highly recommend this practice and Dr Murray if you want an eye doctor who is technically on top of things AND will advocate for you as her patient!

Jonaysha Burrow (and also Katie Flores) were tremendously helpful in helping me find new frames. Especially Jonaysha when she explained the new acetate frames and how they molded to not slip like the old kind without nose pads. I'm just picking then up today and I'm so pleased! Also, Jonaysha is delightful!
