Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

My 6-year old daughter started complaining of blurry vision and headaches. I called a few doctors for appointments, but Boardman Eye Care was the only one that wasn’t booked out a month or more - we got an appointment the following week. My daughter was very nervous, but the staff and doctor gently explained the process and answered all of her questions while testing her eyes. It turns out she needed reading glasses, and because of the wonderful experience she had with the staff, she was excited to pick out frames. I highly recommend this office to anyone with small children. A+++

I am long time patient for Dr. Randy and Dr. Robin. I had a difficult time removing a contact lens. I contacted Dr. Randy for help. He asked me to come immediately to his office. When I arrived the staff immediately led me to Randy’s room. Dr. Randy and Dr. Robin looked at my situation and they were successful in removing the contact to my relief. There was no charge and they gave me a removal device free of charge to use if the problem occurred again. The whole staff was fantastic.

Do not trust them- they are more concerned with repeat business and sales than helping you to see properly. They are always changing my prescription and when I tell them I can’t see they say “you’re eyes just need time to adjust”. Three months ago I went in. My prescription got significantly stronger according to them. They sent me home with contacts that were a drastic change from my previous script. I made multiple trips back. I told the Dr I couldn’t see. He made the script even stronger! I complained that my old script was fine and I wanted to order in that prescription. He told me that as I have one astigmatism now, and a different script, I couldn’t do that. He checked my eyes again, confirming the script he’d given me. I paid a lot for contacts. Thankfully I didn’t order glasses. I had headaches for two weeks. So I scheduled elsewhere to get a second opinion (told them I was due for a follow up and didn’t mention this experience to the new place). My old prescription was correct. I have no astigmatism is either eye. And now I can see.

First of all, the new location in Boardman is beautiful, spacious and well thought out. I have been Dr. Bloomberg's patient for a number of years and he always gives me a very thorough exam, takes his time to answer all questions I may have and makes recommendations that are spot on. His staff is very knowledgeable and always friendly. Easy to make appointments and they accept my insurance, which is a bonus. I highly recommend their services and if you ever feel like you have an issue for any reason, I am sure they would be happy to take care of your concerns.
