Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

After going back four times to get my glasses correct, I still could not see out of them. I was also told I could NOT come back a fifth time. So, I left with glasses I could not use. I went to an ophthalmologist and showed her my glasses. She said the “dots” ( for lack of better word) they mark on the glasses were completely in the wrong place. One was way up on one lens and way down to bottom on the other lens. I went back asking for my money back and they refused. Even tho I did everything in the 100 days. My last try to correct this was on day 100. So when I picked up my glasses the fourth time I no longer fell in the 100 day window. I insisted I wanted my money back and was refused! The said they would try a fifth time to get it correct. Basically, I didn’t want to deal with them anymore but will let them try again verses getting nothing. I dread going back in a fifth time to see if things are correct. I would not recommend this place to anyone! Their customer service is AWFUL! I would give zero stars if I could.

An associate, Hunter, has always been super friendly and accommodating every time I've come in. He stayed late after closing to help order glasses. I appreciate that he did that. Shop here if you're looking for inexpensive, fast, and friendly. @management, Hunter, deserves a raise. However, I'd recommend getting an eye exam elsewhere. I think the Optometrist if often over-booked and has to rush through appointments.

I’m not a fan of Visionworks, but it’s the only in-network eyeshop within reasonable distance for my new company’s limited eye plan. The eye exam seemed cursory and hasty, compared with my previous eye exams (35-40 of them?). Perhaps the doctor was tired or had a bad day; it was the end of the day after the holidays… The staff member who helped me pick out frames was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the selection of frames for appropriate for my bifocal prescription was very minimal: I needed large lenses in rectangular frames that had nose pads (metallic, not plastic glasses). There were zero choices in silver-tone to pick from; I had to buy gold frames since I hate gold a bit less than the numerous rose gold choices and frames with hearts and other too-girly, unprofessional-looking choices. I loved the frames I purchased last year from Pearle Vision, but Visionworks said they’d need to keep my glasses for two weeks to just replace the lenses, which obviously isn’t an option. Very sad that there were really poor selections for women’s frames (mostly just plastics and chunky rose-gold-plastic combos), and they said there was no way for them to measure my existing frames and simply have new lenses with my new prescription created and popped into my existing frames in-store once they were available. :-( (My company’s other insurance plans are turning out to be terribly limited, too.)
