Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

This has been the most comfortable I have been at an eye appointment. Dr. Glenn and his staff are amazing. I would recommend this facility to anyone who needs the help/care. Thank you for making my first time with contacts a good experience.

I have been a loyal customer since 2017. After today, I am not returning to this office ever again. I have Tricare Prime, like many people in Jacksonville, and called last week to schedule an appointment for a contact fitting. When I called to schedule my appointment, I provided the receptionist with the details of my last appointment and I stated that I still have the same insurance policy and that I was not going to use my insurance since it does not cover contact fittings or contacts and that I would be back in a few months for my comprehensive exam using Tricare in a few months. The female I spoke with over the phone reassured me everything was fine and gave me the earliest appointment available. Fast forward to the next week, the day of my appointment. The female receptionist with the familiar voice from the phone has curly hair, and she lacks communication and customer service skills. I was respectful the entire time and she failed to conduct herself professionally. She kept talking about me as though I did not exist and was continuously referring to me while talking to coworkers about me saying “She this, she that. Oh what’s her name again. I forgot her name. No clue.” It was beyond frustrating to stand there and have any sort of care rely on people that exhibit such indifference. Anyway, I should have been told last week when I called to schedule my appointment that the provider would want the last comprehensive eye exam to be within 6 months to proceed with the contact fitting. I kept repeating to the staff that I understand my insurance and what is and is not covered. I kept stating that if my insurance does not cover it, that I do not want it done. The staff kept pushing for the exams despite my direct statements. I restated that if the provider required a comprehensive eye exam to proceed with the contact fitting (Tricare prime only covers a comprehensive eye exam annually) that I refuse to pay for that out of pocket, that there is no reason because I have insurance, and that I would just wait until the one year has elapsed to be seen. I will not be returning to this office for the complete disregard for patient care. I would highly suggest that you look elsewhere unless experiencing the interactions I had here today does not disturb you.

My family went to get eye exams and glasses. We were early, so we told the ladies by the glasses that we were waiting for the eye exams. I then got a call from the lady(who I could see through the glass) who said we were late for our exams. She was very rude about it. I explained that we were right out front looking at glasses. She explained that there was another entrance, which no one had told us about. Why didn’t she just come get us if she could see us? I explained that my daughter was disabled, had some special issues, and I would need to stay with her. She told me several times to go wait out front(in the store), and I explained again why I needed to stay with my daughter. She was not happy, and told me she would take care of my daughter. I asked her if she knew my daughter’s medical history? There are certain things the dr. needs to look for. I finally just told her I was staying. She called me sweetheart several times. It’s like she thought that if she said it, it would make up for how rude she was. She should not be allowed to work with the public. She has no idea how to help the disabled. She got very angry, and rude. My daughter was upset and just wanted to leave. I would like to mention that the doctor was wonderful. We refused to get our glasses there, and went to another location.
