Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Excellent place for getting an eye exam and a new pair of eyeglasses. Dr. Friedman is very knowledgeable and professional and the staff next door is extremely helpful when it comes to pick your new glasses. Highly recommend!

Had a great experience from start to finish. Very friendly and helpful staff. The doctor is professional and helped me get my vision back after my previous doctor messed it up. I got my glasses really fast and they helped me pick out a second pair at a great price! Definitely recommendable and worth the drive from Elizabeth.

Doctor is amazing, She gave me explanations of what I needed etc. however the ladies who help in choosing glasses, I do not know if they are there to just steal the money or do not care about what they give for a person. I wanted sunglasses, since I have started to drive and my eyes burn a lot due to the sun. I do not feel safe buying sunglasses outside due to bad experience. One of the ladies was very sarcastic towards me as to why I was there. I went to pick up the glasses today, just to find out that they gave me the wrong ones, they’re not sunglasses but just normal glasses. They asked me if I wanted transition glasses or just normal sunglasses, I said normal sunglasses since they are not that expensive. They tell me that I misunderstood and would just accept the amount they asked for but not give me back my money for the glasses that they gave me. Ridiculous.

Incompetent. Not long after I got my glasses I dropped them back off to get anti-reflective coating. They charged my credit card and told me they would have them back in a week or so. Almost 3 weeks after they had my glasses they finally called me and told me my insurance would not cover any longer. They didn’t give any reason why it took so long to figure that out. This is after they had already charged my card $35 for it. They also wanted me to pay the full price for anti-reflective coating which is $115. Very unsatisfactory, unhelpful and disappointing. Also wasted so much time going back-and-forth with them, for something THEY should’ve known right off the bat. Each time they just blamed the insurance company. Why did it take 3 weeks to call and let me know? You charged me, so I should get what you charge me for. I would not recommend them or do business with them again in the future. Reply: Their reply is FULL of lies, I never once asked two refunds, only asked how were they going to refund me on a credit card where the account was closed? They also didn't address the fact that it took them several weeks to get back to me and finally say they couldn't give me the anti-reflective coating that I already paid for. It doesn't take 3 weeks to get a reply from the insurance company, truth is likely they forgot about until I called them and asked why it was taking soooo long. This was the real delay, but far be it for them to take any responsibility, let's blame it on the insurance. The first word of my reviews stands. Incompetent... But let me add one more... LIARS!

Dr. Walker is excellent. The lady at the front desk was very professional I might say. You won't find that at to many places. She finally gave my husband the diagnosis no other eye doctor can tell him. She fitted him with the correct lens and he was able to see with the contacts. He was also able to get glasses at a reasonable price. Now we are waiting on the insurance to get his lens.
