Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I put this review in to see what kind of auto response I get. It's obvious they could care less about your concerns. I guess they'll want me to contact them after I've made no complaint. By the way why don't you pick your phones.

Amazed by our experience here. Not too busy. Great customer service. The optometrist we saw was extremely knowledgeable, confident, friendly, and helpful. They even accepted our insurance for a medical appointment. We’ve had mixed experiences elsewhere but this place is one that deserves five stars.

I have nothing but good things to say about the Pompton Plains location, the service was excellent, the wait time for my exam was very short. Carmen was great when I ordered my new pair of glasses and extremely helpful with the fitting of them and any adjustments that were needed.

In a post-covid world where many businesses have tossed the very notion of good customer service out the window because of labor challenges, supply chain issues, inflation or for what I'm sure are a multitude of other reasons - Visionworks in Pompton Plains, NJ has restored my faith that its still possible! On two separate occasions via a recent transaction I had occasion to visit the store. The first was when I discovered the store for the first time by merely walking by the window. As life would have it, I needed a new pair of frames and their impressive display and posted offers channeled me in. Once inside, in spite of the fact that it was very crowded, I was helped by no less than 3 different salespeople when I needed it, ultimately culminating in a very pleasant purchasing experience. They were kind, professional and attentive. The second occasion to visit the store and interact with their team was after I received my new glasses and wore them for over a month. I noticed that something wasn't right with the prescription and that I was having an increasingly challenging time using the glasses. I went back to my optometrist, one I ha been using for years who was NOT associated with their store - and asked her to redo my prescription. It turns out that the prescription I had provided Visionworks with was outdated and I needed an entire new set of lenses due to my mistake, not theirs. I came back to the store, new but unusable glasses in hand and ready to do "battle" to get my lenses replaced. I wasn't sure how this was going to work given that I had gotten the prescription at another location. That fact plus again, given the overworked and generally cranky demeanor of the employees you often see in crowded stories these days, I was ready with a whole speech and facts to try and minimize the impact of replacing my lenses. Then I met Carmen, one of the store managers. In one calm, supportive and understanding response, she politely told me that 100% customer satisfaction meant just that - that the customer be satisfied. She was really terrific, understanding the need for my glasses to work asap and understanding the pain I was in in a truly empathetic way. She made it right with no out of pocked cost to me, wanting my total Visionworks experience to be amazing. And it was. And I am bringing a family member back this weekend for their pair as I wouldn't steer anyone to any place of business that I didn't think was exceptional - and they are in fact exceptional. Thank you Carmen and team for great lenses, great frames, GREAT customer service and a great overall experience. You have restored my faith that stellar customer service is alive and well these days - and residing at VisionWorks in Pompton Plains, NJ!

My daughter and I have been here a few times in the past and it was never a spectacular visit but where our insurance prefers so we did. However, we haven't been in almost 2 years until last week and we had an AMAZING visit. They were a bit short staffed but they didn't act like it. Everyone was smiling, nice, and had a sense of humor. It was very refreshing and made waiting easy. When we had our initial exam (the one before you see the eye dr) the lady who took care of us was talkative and super funny. We were both cracking up and felt so at ease. She then walks us into the eye Dr office and sits down. What? She was the actual eye doctor! Her staff was busy with other clients and she had no hesitation in helping out in whatever way she could. How many doctors have you met that actually do that?! It might have just been a routine eye exam for new glasses but we walked out laughing and smiling!
