Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

This place is a joke. I went here yesterday, since it was the only nearby optometrist that took my insurance. I arrived on time. I waited 35 minutes and left the place frustrated. I never was looked at. I am not there to wait. Do not go there. The staff is incompetent. I am not there to spend the whole evening there. I am going to check to see if there are any other places further out from me that take my insurance.

I have been seeing Dr. Rufolo for over 25 years. He is a great optometrist who is very knowledgeable and takes his time answering any questions or concerns. When it comes to scheduled appointments, Dr. Rufolo is very prompt. He has never kept me waiting past my scheduled time, which I really appreciate. Two thumbs up!

Aditi Kadakia  |  Rating: 1  |  Target Optical

I’ve unfortunately reviewed this place terribly last year and swore I’d never come back, but now it’s a year later and I’m trying to order contacts using my prescription that is not expired for another week. I ordered through target optical online 4 days ago with next day air delivery, but it has not come because my doctor is refusing to approve my prescription. When asking why, they say that my prescription is about to expire (which is not a valid reason because it is currently still valid). They refuse to approve a valid prescription and they also refuse to provide me trial lenses to hold me through until my order arrives. Not to mention the doctor and her assistant are so unbelievably rude, she hung up on me when I questioned anything. I continue to see comments about how rude this doctor is and I’m shocked she’s still allowed to practice. I will definitely be reporting to the optometry board because what they are doing is refusing my prescription which is illegal and a form of malpractice. I highly recommend no one go here if you want to be given quality patient care and spoken to politely.

Jordan Fraser  |  Rating: 5  |  Fields Of Vision--Dr. Marshall Field

First off, it was the most pleasant experience I've had at a doctors office. Everything from scheduling the appointment to picking up my glasses. I arrived right ask my mask broke and they gave me a fresh one they had on hand. All Covid measures were used including taking temperature at the door and a table with disinfectants for your use as well. They also schedule you so I was the only one there at the time besides Dr. Fields and the assistant. (Who I definitely needed come time to help me pick out frames.) This was my first time at an eye doctor as my far sighted vision was becoming a bit blurry especially during drive in movie events to occupy us during Covid. Dr. Fields greeted me at the door and was the most cheerful and talkative doctor (but in a good way, not the kind of doctors that over analyze or annoy you.) He had wonderful conversation and even re-cleaned the equipment in front of me for comfort. It was the most surprising yet rewarding experience I could have had. I HIGHLY recommend this office for any Optical needs. A++
