Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

The staff at Ridgedale mall are amazing. I had my packaged stolen from me and they did not even skip a beat. They immediately started working out a plan to order the contacts and ship it to the store. They kept me in the loop and had a quick turnaround time. They are wonderful to work with. Highly recommend! :)

The Dr is great - very helpful. Staff that helps with contact and glasses is subpar - my contacts seemed great at first - then after a week or so - the left became blurry - took me about another two weeks to get in due to my schedule - and she said there was nothing they could do - so I had to order boxes for that prescription - I have opened to sets of contacts (brand new) to experience that I do not even feel comfortable driving - so back to my old glasses - can not seem to get anyone to work with me on this either.

The individual attention and care provided at the Minnetonka Pearle Vision clinic would be hard to surpass! Dr. Maggie Scott is hands down the best of the best — personable, knowledgable, understanding of patient’s needs and has a dash of humor as well! I highly recommend Bridget to assist with eyeglass selection & fittings — she knows her style, is excellent at suggesting frames based on face shape + features as well as your personal feedback on likes / dislikes.. and she is super fun & very kind! Even the staff that checked me in were super nice, quick & were able to enjoy a bit of fun banter with me prior to my appointment. They are definitely taking strides to keep everything feeling normal in the middle of continued uncertainty. The owners of this clinic (each is individually owned through a Pearle Vision franchise) are 2 sisters (who I don’t know personally but had the pleasure of speaking with after my visit).. that care deeply about their patients, the experience that each is provided and they are super committed to bringing great eyeglass styles and all around wonderful experiences to their customers. Additionally, I’ve been going here 2 years & my vision has actually improved! If you’re in need of an eye exam or new glasses, be sure to check this team out! You will leave confident, happy & seeing things clear as day (haha)!

We really wanted to like this clinic, but, unfortunately, we have had several very dificult experiences with charging us for routine eye care that was covered by our insurance. Office staff insisted the services were not covered by our policy. We've taken our business elsewhere and saved several hundred of dollars in annual eye exam costs.

Tim was a pleasure to work with. He helped me through the selection process by suggesting frames that were congruent with my tastes. He also has a great sense of humor, which also contributed to making it a very good experience. I would rate the experience 6 stars if I could.
