Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Worst eye exam ever. The lenses were dirty/foggy. The prescription they gave me was wrong and hard to see. I said that to them and they said that was what they came up with so I asked just to get the prescription that I had with my previous optical place. It was a waste of money and they don't work with any insurance. Will never go back.

Had a great experience, lots of great glasses to choose from and I had no idea I would be able to get my glasses the very same day! Everyone was so sweet that I worked with. I will be switching from America’s best to eyeglass world and telling all my friends and family, because wow, what a difference.

Walt Z  |  Rating: 5  |  Woodbridge Family Eye Care

I am extremely happy with the care and customer service I received during an inconvenient situation surrounding an issue I experienced with a pair of premium brand prescription sunglasses I purchased through Woodbridge. While wearing the sunglasses, the left lens became detached from the frames, fell to the floor, and cracked. This was distressing since I had only had the sunglasses for 2 months and worn them 4 or 5 times. Since I was near the Woodbridge location, I immediately took the cracked lens and frames to the office. The staff managed everything correctly. They could tell that the frames had never been dropped or abused and contacted the manufacturer attempting to get the situation corrected. Unfortunately, the manufacturer refused to recognize that this issue was a defect. I was asked to leave the glasses so they could work the problem. A few days later, John Schlafley called to tell me that he was working with the manufacturer and assured me that this would be resolved. As expected, the lenses were replaced and thoroughly checked to make sure they were secure in the frames. I cannot thank the staff, Dr. Woodbridge, and John enough for the way they handled this situation and making sure the sunglasses were fixed. They have been nothing less than friendly, courteous, and very professional and I would highly recommend Woodbridge Family Eye Care to anyone looking for, not just glasses, but a relationship with an office and staff that cares about their patients.

The staff was helpful and knowledgeable. There were many options for frames and the doctor was able to guide me towards the best contacts for my situation. They were kind enough to wear masks and didn't make a fuss about it.

El Plunkett  |  Rating: 5  |  America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses

After purchasing two pairs of glasses at a Florida store and receiving them in the mail, I was not looking forward to going in locally to get adjustments made. I guess I anticipated lots of questions about where I purchased them and why they were not working for me...... so happy I was wrong:) I was greeted at the door by Sarah who asked how she could help me and immediately set to work on what I needed done. Her friendly expertise made my experience quick and easy. I highly recommend the Grandville America’s Best for a good selection of eye wear with friendly service.
