Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Rating only the optical side of the business as I did not visit the doctor. I visited specifically because I wanted Oliver Peoples frames and I knew they carried them since I got a pair a few years ago from them. I stopped in to drop off my prescription and asked if they could order the frames I wanted since they didn’t have the size in stock. After I coached them through the website, they ordered my frames and a few weeks later, I was notified that they were ready. As soon as I put them on, I mentioned that they didn’t feel right. The woman who helped me was so snarky the whole time making me feel like it was in my head and insisting the glasses were right and advised me to go back to my doctor. While I was there, I told her my current glasses (which I bought from them) had the arms coming loose even after tightening the screws. She then proceeded to scold me for tightening my owns screws at home. I did return to my doctor and although he thought everything was fine, he adjusted the prescription in one of my eyes. I returned to EyeSymmetry and then remade the lenses. When they were ready, I tried them on again and they still get wrong. This time is felt like my left eye was being pulled. They again told me the glasses were perfect and my prescription must be wrong. My eye doctor checked again and assured me my prescription was as right and the glasses must be off. When I returned to Eye Symmetry again, they told me I was wrong and they did everything correctly. I told them that perhaps the pupil centering was off and they said no it wasn’t because they measured. I told them that they never measured it because my frames were ordered - not stock frames. Then they said it didn’t matter because they had it on file from my last glasses. My eye doctor wrote a note repeatedly for them to call him to discuss which they refused to do. He even left a message for Dr. Schwartz to call him, which he didn’t. And they lied about the measurements they took for my glasses. The service was rude all the way around but I could have accepted that if they simply took my glasses back. I told them that they were useless to me and so I’d like a refund and they refused. My next steps are to take these frames to my eye doctor and just pay out of pocket for new lenses from a competent office. I’ll never set foot in EyeSymmetry again and would never recommend it to anyone.

This review is actually by Pat Correa. Visit was 2 weeks ago. I have been going to Dr. Schwartz for years and always receive exceptional and professional care from him and his staff. During my through eye exams, Dr. Schwartz always takes the time to explain his findings, recommendations and what solutions can be taken if needed. Excellent equipment used for eye exams. I always feel welcome upon arrival at my appointments. The customer service is outstanding. Rebeca and Akina are extremely helpful when I'm selecting my eyewear (they offer a great selection). I appreciate their advice and honesty. Thank you all for your care. I feel appreciated!

My family and I have been patients at EyeSymmetry since 2008, back when they were originally called “Eyes for Kids”. Over these 14 years they have provided outstanding customer service and eye care; always going above and beyond for their patients exceeding my expectations at every appointment. I love how they not only stay up to date with the latest medical technology, but also stay up to date with the latest trends; while also providing unique eyewear for those of us that think outside of the box. EyeSymmetry is the GOAT regarding your eye care needs.
