Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

The last time I came, I scheduled an appointment and I waited for over 30 minutes while a lady who walked in was seen before me. Then the woman who helped me pick out my glasses seemed upset because I didn't want to purchase the more expensive ones. The ones I chose were $70 and she just kept saying my insurance covered more than that. I kept reminding her that I knew and proceeded with my purchase. That was in 2018. I came back this year because I liked my frames and my prescription was almost perfect. Also because they already had my insurance on file, and I wanted to try contacts this go round. I made an appointment again and this time, I was seen in a timely manner. My optometrist was friendly as always, and this time the staff was too. There was one optician who wasn't very attentive when helping me figure out my contacts. I wouldn't say he was rude he just seemed annoyed when I tried to get it. The ladies that work in the office were able to help me though. And because this time was mostly a pleasant experience, I would go back again.

I’ve been going to Dr. Spind for about 16 years. At one point I had to switch doctors because of insurance reasons but, when I switched insurances again I went right back to Dr. Spind. He’s always taken good care of me and I can truly tell he wants what is best for my eyes. I can only assume that he is that way with all of his patients. I will continue to use him for as long as possible. Also, the staff at the front desk are very professional and get things done quickly. Overall I have only had positive experiences here. Hope this helps someone looking for a good eye doctor.

I really liked Dr Spind and his staff. He is the only eye doctor who has ever asked me about my diet. He listened to all of my questions and helped me a lot. Also found out the prescription given by my last place was too strong.

Last year I had major issues trying to do contacts for the first time. My eyes are just way outta whack but needed to do something. Original prescription although correct messed with my eyes to where I would get head aches and dizziness. I swear we went through 3 or 4 trial pairs before we locked in a pair. Brittany is phenomenal she went above and beyond time after time to check in and ordered a few that would work let me work through and find what worked best for me. Once we found the pair she exchanged the original unopened pairs for me and put it twords the new order. Ok so on to today. I transitioned M2F and ended up coming fully out a few months ago so when I needed to set up a new exam I knew esactly who to call. Staff is new to Trans people and could use some updates when it comes to addressing it however I came from work and wasn't putting on my best either. However Brittany didn't bat an eye she was her typical awesome self stayed later than she was scheduled just for my appointment. There is a reason she is in management. As long as she is there I will always go back. It wasn't there fault my eyes weren't used to being corrected it wasn't the prescription literally on the machine it looked great. Go here and understand that if you have an issue they will do anything they can to make it help. I'm proof that things aren't an exact science.

Current customer service now is awful. Associate walk around with a frown and attitude (not all). Some are friendly. I used to come here all the time. Now I’m taking my business else where. It’s unfortunate. The doctors are amazing. I’ve order my contacts a month ago and no respond or anything.
