Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I would rate 0 if possible! Both employees & optometrists do not care about patients. The optometrists dismiss any health concerns & rush you out. Never in 10 years of receiving eye care for glasses & contacts have I met such incompetence & disregard from supposed medical professionals. The people working at the front desk are as bad. They are very disorganized & uncaring, which makes their practice not just irresponsible, but dangerous. The optometrists rush you out & DO NOT perform to the degree in which they should, especially in care for your EYES. The frames they sell are up priced from a small amount at which they buy them to hundreds of dollars. I would highly recommend visiting your local ophthalmologist, because these "professionals" did not learn anything in school. Visit a real DOCTOR who will care for you properly, not these money hungry and inconsiderate folks. Both of the optometrist there have been considerably rude. Find a real doctor, do not give these people your money!

Eye Care offers an exceptional and professional experience. I trust my eyes to Dr. Carter and her staff. I appreciate their patience and kindness with me. The entire process from entering the facility until I checked out was beyond my expectations. The five stars are for the entire staff. All of which are knowledgeable, efficient, & pleasant. Thank you Eye Care for exceeding my expectations and offering a clean environment while doing so.

Dr Lewis's assistant gave me a very thorough eye examination and gave me a diagnosis that I was not expecting but I feel that I got the best care in this last visit and I'm glad I have Dr Lewis and his assistants to count on

I was surprised that the front desk person was pleasant and engaged! (I think in the past they've always been like robots.) I met my new doctor Ossara (sp?) was amazing, just as good if not better than my dear retired Dr Pickering. I was afraid she wouldn't entertain my strategy for glasses/contact-wearing, but she was all on board. The techs I encountered were pleasant also. The glasses guy was very nice. I left with a free pair of contacts, that's cool! Suggestion for improvement: some brighter lights would help the ambience. I had to look around to see if lights were even on. It's a pretty dismal-feeling lobby. Other than that, I had a good experience.

Very easy process! They except walk-ins and the exams ($89 exam $20 dilation) are fast. The offices are super clean, staff is friendly and very approachable. Sales Associate -Karen was so nice and comical in her sales approach. Made my day when shopping for some new eyes. My glasses were ready within 45 minutes (2 pair $150.00 w/ lenses). All I can say is, "Go check'em out!"
