Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

My 8 year son was very nervous for his 1st exam yesterday but the entire staff made him feel comfortable and at ease. Dr. Garvin took her time and didn't rush him through the exam and also explained what he needed glasses for. I am so grateful that they made this a good experience for both me and my son. I will definitely recommend Scott Eye Care to everyone!

Best eye care visit of my life! I am new to Lafayette and was experience vision problems that made my yearly appointment more than a routine checkup. I searched highly rated doctors close to me and was given first available new patient appointment times: November, Feburary, and March. I was crushed, and also worried about my eye health. I found Scott Eye Care while scrolling on Facebook and took a risk by calling before looking at reviews. I was met with an exceptionally helpful receptionist that was able to fit me into an appointment the next business day! Being my first appointment on my new insurance, the receptionist was also incredibly helpful with helping me to find information and ensure my visit was covered. When I arrived at 8am on a Monday morning, those working the front were strikingly warm and friendly! I sat down briefly before being called into my appointment. My eye technician was professional and considerate of my time while also being friendly and taking careful notes. Dr. Cazares was the best. Most notably, Dr. Cazares thought critically about what could be the cause of my problem, tested multiple solutions, and quickly found the right solution for me. Kind, gentle, and caring, Dr. Cazares listened, which is what I seek in every health care professional. I am so lucky to have come across Dr. Cazares. Moreover, I'm so lucky to know I have a trusted optometrist to turn to for check ups and emergencies in the future.

We are so happy that we were recommended Scott Eye Care! From the time we walked through the door to the time we walked out was a positive experience. The staff is super friendly and I was impressed with how smooth the techs handled working up BOTH of my kids at the same time. The doctor is amazing and made sure to check if not only myself, but also if my kids had any further questions before he walked us to be checked out. I have worked 3.5 years in the optical field myself and I definitely recommend this team for your future eye care needs! Great job Scott Eye Care!

Today was my first trip to the clinic and I must say it was as great as everyone else has posted. The front office staff were courteous and friendly when arriving. The technician was friendly, easy to work with, and funny. The doctor was quick to come to the room and interacted quite pleasantly. The staff seem to work well together and address any and all questions. I did not need eyewear so I cannot speak to that side of the business. We will absolutely be coming here for future needs. 2022 Follow up. Second annual visit. Same great care team and great service. I recommend them to everyone looking for a great experience.

Amazing experience! The staff is very friendly. The doctor explains everything. They were so great with my two kids 4 and 6. The way they handled my overly active 4 year old was remarkable. Great Job guys! We will be back! I wish all staff everywheres was properly trained and mannered as this group. Everyone here is awesome!
