Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Brittany the tech that saw me and my wife was amazing. Super friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and down to earth made the entire visit a very pleasant experience. I'm literally rating so high simply bc she was so great at her a job! Also the eye contact and eye glasses customer service rep, Tiffany, was just as knowledgeable and very patient helped us both quickly and efficiently with a great personality and was above and beyond customer service oriented. They both are the reason I will keep going back and tell everyone to go to Americas Best for all your eye care needs! Keep up the fantastic work ladies thank u very much for all that you do for your customers

Kendrea Terrell  |  Rating: 5  |  McCain Family Eyecare

Absolutely a great experience. Dr. McCain was very through and explained every step and procedure that they were performing on my son. Great atmosphere, easy to get appointment set up and extremely friendly staff.

Joelle Martel  |  Rating: 5  |  Menard Eye Center

The staff are exceptional feel m the time you walk in to the time you leave. I did not have to wait long before I was called to the back. I had my eyes dilated and the assistant told me what to expect. Dr Menard came in once my eyes were dilated and did test to check the status of the of my eyes beyond the lens. Since I am a diabetic the vessels are checked throughly. I was then asked to try several lenses to make my prescription accostumed to my prescription. Wonderful experience. And they have a wide selection of glasses to choose from. Definitely would recommend Dr Menard to anyone young and old alike.

Sue Bergeron  |  Rating: 5  |  Menard Eye Center

Dr. Menard discovered the detached retina issue (2 times, no less) and referred me immediately for surgery. Now I go back every 90 days for follow-ups. The staff is phenomenal, professional, friendly, courteous, and totally knowledgeable. Dr. Menard is patient with my lack of knowledge, talks to me in a way I can try to understand, offers solutions to any issues that may/do arise over time, puts me at ease with light levity, and is always available to answer questions I call in. I trust Dr. Menard explicitly with my eye care. Menard Eye Center is 100% hands-down the best!
