Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Took over 2 hours to get an eye exam and fitted for contacts. Had pre-scheduled an appointment, which obviously made no difference. Only 2 people were helping getting glasses purchased and were very inefficient and slow. I gave up waiting after picking out glasses and said I would come back another day. Very rude associates, being nasty when I went to the wrong counter to speak with someone even though I had not been directed anywhere just told "the counter is over there" mind you there was 3 different counters! Then I went to purchase contacts and it took well over 15 minutes because I had 2 charts in the system and that took forever. I've always had to wait at VisionWorks, but after this I will NEVER go back to any of their stores. Absolutely ABSURD here. No efficiency, no push to keep people moving in that facility, no sense of urgency, and above all a terrible experience. I would give 0 stars if I could. Justin was the only nice person who was apologetic and seemed concerned.

I have to start by saying that the eye exam went well and had a great experience over all with this part of the apt. The reps were engaging and the Dr was informative. I picked out my frames and I had also brought in my old frames to have the lenses updated as well. This was also a nice interaction, although I was told that Transitions were a good choice so I upgraded under the impression that I would also have the smart screen on my readers (this is all I really need my glasses for). After 2 weeks, I get notified that both pair are ready to be pick up. I go into the store and my glasses are pulled out. The rep reads my prescription. I ask about the smart screen and that is when I'm told that no if I have transitions that I cannot have smart screen. I was told that this would be better for driving. I explain that just need them for working on a computer and reading since 8-10 hours of my day is in front of a computer screen 5-6 days a week. After a little resistance and the rep pulling my old prescription to see what I previously had, I was told that I should get what I want and was refunded my money for transitions and order placed to correct my prescriptions. I felt like I was being scolded for questioning my order. After 2 more weeks I went to pick up my glasses. This time I have 3 pair?? 2 for reading with smart screen and another pair for distance with smart screen. I try to explain that I did not order for distance but was told yes and she had the receipt. I'm exhausted trying to explain so I just go with it knowing I'm going to reach out Monday morning regarding the mistake. My readers work well if I'm looking way up close, if my phone is in front of my face but looking at a computer screen they are fuzzy. My glasses worked perfectly before they replaced the lenses for working on the computer and reading, now both pair of readers only work for up close (very close reading). I am going to contact the store again today and ask the they again fix my rx and I want to return the pair for distance. I'm disappointed and felt rushed Saturday due to the store having a lot of people waiting to pick up their glasses. I'm hoping to get this resolved. I am frustrated and wearing Costco glasses that work better than glasses from a Vision store. Called the store and talked to Brittany. She was helpful and understanding. She pulled the receipt and noticed the 3rd pair. I will be going in on this Saturday to return the 3rd pair and having them look at my rx for the readers. Very pleasant and helpful.

Waited 20 minutes for a pair of glasses that were ready for pickup. Seems like they are very understaffed, we weren’t approached at all. Just stood and waited at eyewear pickup while employees sat at their desks.

So I called to check the status of my glasses that was put on order I was on hold for 1 hour and 10 mins next I am a diabetic my vision has changed and I can barely see I stated that to vision works while dropping off my prescription and over the phone when they finally answered, next the person who answered the phone transferred me to the lab no one answered then she came back 10 mins later asked for my name and number and said the lab will call me back shortly still no call back at this point you all need to refund my money and reimburse my insurance and I will take my business somewhere else who cares about my well being. .

Wonderful customer service. I had attempted to reassemble a pair of ray-bans on my own after I managed to sit on them. Long story short, I continued to fail after a couple hrs of attempts. I went to Springer & Lee as a last resort, and within 10 minutes my sunglasses were perfect again. At the point I expected to reach for my wallet, I was told "don't worry about it, just come here the next time you need a pair of glasses." You don't come to expect this kind of good will, helpfullness, or kindness in the commercial world today, I'm just sad I can't pass along the name of the woman working there today, but I can assure you I'll be back the next time I need a set of glasses. 10/4/12 @ 2pm
