Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Very satisfied with the care and service provided by Dr. Young and his staff. The biggest benefit of being Dr. Young's patient is his knowledge and experience. Without getting into the details, my daughter had been to various eye doctors and received conflicting advice/guidance. Dr. Young explained the diagnosis and his recommended path forward in great detail and explained the reasons the previous doctors took the paths they took, without putting the previous doctors down. Very professional. My daughter's situation has improved far greater than my wife and I thought was possible before we made the decision to switch to Dr. Young. My vision needs are more typical than my daughter's; but Dr. Young has been great for me as well taking the time to ensure I am 100% satisfied with my vision levels. For whatever reason, I have experienced poor service at my previous vision provider's, but so far Dr. Young's staff has been great. Insurance can be really confusing, so I expect some issues anytime I am obtaining medical care; however, they have been very patient and helpful. My family and I have been patients of Dr. Young since around the beginning of 2018 (maybe sooner, can't remember), and do not plan on going anywhere else for our vision needs.

Would leave zero stars if possible absolute worst service ever did not even get my exam because I was one minute outside of grace period They canceled my appointment and would not work with me at all besides telling me I could come back later that day during my work day when i already took my break to get there. I’ve never had a doctors office not work with a patient. Could not have my eye exam due to being there one minute past the time that they said was the cut off wasted my time driving there and waste of my time even trying to go to this establishment I would not recommend for any one that’s wanting to actually go get their eyes checked. I understand having a booked solid day but I also understand that having compassion for your patience it should also be some thing that happens if I would’ve shown up 35 minutes past my appointment I would understand but literally one minute past the grace period. I was also even more late by the time I was able to speak to someone because I stood there for a few minutes while three people were standing there doing nothing and didn’t say anything to me that was wasting time and pushing into the time that I could’ve been with the doctor they also admitted that they double booked for that time slot that shouldn’t of happened anyways so it would’ve been a struggle for me to be seen on time anyways apparently. Professionalism at this location needs to get better and customer care needs to be top priority.

Doctor was great but the office staff is so frustrating and unhelpful that after trying to make my yearly appointment I have to say the only solution is to find a new doctor. They told me that they would not help me with insurance and that I should pay cash and work it out on my own.

I’ve been to another AB and had mixed feelings. The Newport AB was a great experience. Quick and efficient, kind optometrist as well. I was very impressed, as omicron has the local numbers high, that every staff member wore their mask properly to protect their community.

I had a piece of metal in my eye which made me a nervous wreck. They were able to get me in same day and everyone from the front desk to the Doc made me feel comfortable and at ease. They got me squared away fast, really appreciate it. Will likely make this my go to eye doctor.
