Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I have been Dr. Robert Nelson patient for about 36 years. He has served my family excellently! He has served be through glasses, contacts and cataract surgery. He is knowledgeable and very patient. I highly recommend him and his office. I remember wanting to swim and see with a very near sided prescription. Gary in his office had prescription goggles made. They have the latest fashions in glasses. For eye needs Call 722-1001

We had an excellent first visit for my 8 year old. The staff was fun and kind to my son. They actively listened to him and reassured him that he was doing great during his eye exams even when his answers didn't match the eye chart. Dr. Durham was frank and polite and didn't rush us through the appointment. He worked hard to make sure my sons responses were concurrent with what they saw on the screen. We had 3 different techs help and all of them were great with my son. Dr. Durham recommended daily eye drops for our son and gave us info on his condition. The next day we were contacted by a pharmacy and quickly learned the cost of the drops exceeded our expectations. I called my insurance company for clarification but only received a PDF file of EVERY MEDICATION that they covered. I was stressed. I called Wichita Family Vision back the next week and was so over whelmed with the kindness and problem solving attitude Lindsay (I think that's her name) showed me. She was sympathetic about my issue with the insurance company and offered to "get with Ann and figure out the insurance issue" and then she polity asked what the Pharmacy was charging me. Not 15mins later she called back to inform me that a different pharmacy would be contacting me and that the cost would be closer to what was discussed during our office visit. She never disrespected the first pharmacy she just worked to find a solution for my family. I was brought to tears. The next week Ann called back to make sure I had gotten the phone call and that the price was what I was expecting. This is a long review I know BUT they deserve the lengthy praise because they truly went above and beyond for my child and family. Thank you all so much! We have found our eye care providers for life!

Word of mouth is a powerful force in business and it was through a friend of mine that I heard of WFV. Appointment times are prompt and each doctor takes the time to be as comprehensive and informative as possible. I have lived with a mysterious chronic illness for years and have had several primary care physicians and family doctors write off my symptoms as 'Woman Troubles' until I visited here and the keen doctor recognized my symptoms and gave me recommendations for local specialists. The opticians are charming, talented and exceedingly helpful. I've had several frames in need of repair and they made them good as new with a quickness although they weren't purchased at their establishment. Scheduling and billing are easy and well managed and the general atmosphere is friendly with a small beverage bar and ample seating. I can't recommend WFV enough!
