Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

So here’s the deal. Our appointment was for 12:45 p.m. and we weren’t seen until 1:27 p.m. That’s a 42 minute delay and there was only 2 other people there. Also, the thermostat was on the wall and clearly set at 75*. So, I’m waiting and waiting... and sweating. With that said, the eye doc was nice and seemed very knowledgeable. Also, their seating is COVID-19 friendly if that matters to you. The bathrooms were clean along with the waiting area. Additionally, they hand out Crayons and markers to the kids. They did charge us our $25 copayment at the time of service. Cleanliness 9/10, Value 10/10, Attentiveness and Atmosphere 2/10. That equals a 21/30 or a 70% which equals a C. Overall unhappy and won’t be back unless I absolutely have to.

I really like the atmosphere at Advanced. I've had a couple bad optometrists in my life that really made me avoid going back. The staff at Advanced Family Eye Care are extremely compassionate and take the time to listen to their patients and care about their overall well being. I feel like more than just another number like so many places make you feel. Dr. Menet makes it a very relaxed experience and works with her patients. I'm glad I gave Advanced Family Eye a chance, the entire staff is great. Understanding, caring, and they treat people the way we would all like I feel like.

Laura Bouck  |  Rating: 5  |  Vision 4 Less

Made me extremely happy after feeling dreadfull and waiting 15 years to get new glasses. The optometrist was kind, assuring, supportive, and completely professional. All the staff were knowledgeable and I had no pressure to buy. All customers will feel the same if they are served by the individuals that I had the pleasure to encounter. I plan on continuing to be a client/customer at Vision 4 Less in Waterloo, Iowa. Thank you for making my eyes see the world so much clearer and brighter.

Excellent customer service. Fixed an issue as soon as it was spotted, right as we were looking my glasses over in the store. Every employee I have spoken with has been professional, courteous and very kind. I will be returning.

My entire family has been patients of Eyecare Associates for several years because they take our former insurance. We always felt like the staff didnt want us there and we were hurried through. Nobody was outright rude, just not friendly. From the receptionist to the doctor and check out, everybody seams like robots that dont really care.
