Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

The staff at the front desk seemed annoyed and rushed when I came in for the very first time there. The wait time for my actual appointment was a little long. Why schedule an appointment if it isn't going to be for 30-45 minutes after that time. The selection for frames is very nice though. And the woman helping me decide which pair to pick was very pleasant and seemed to actually want to help. Glasses took about 2 weeks and then one of the lenses was scratched so I had to wait another week to get them.

Above and beyond helping me fix my sons glasses. Last year I went to the northtown location and the associate who had helped me moved locations. Needless to say we followed her, highland is a drive but worth it for the customer experience. Amanda is very patient and helpful. We went in Wednesday morning. Amanda was by herself so right away while she was helping other patients greeted us and said she’d be with us as soon as she could. My son is autistic so he isn’t the patient of children especially only being seven with sensory issues Amanda new exactly what frames he had before and just where to find them and took the time to adjust them just right. She does an amazing job with him every time I was surprised she remembered us from last year. We’ll be coming in for his new glasses this year. Thank you again Amanda.

I set my appointment for a certain time. The business confirmed my appointment with me. I showed up on time for my appointment, checked in, and was told to browse or sit until my name is called. The seating area was full so I browsed for 10 minutes. I asked how long of a wait until I see the Dr, and was told there were several in front of me, and it'll be another 30 minutes. What would you have done is I had shown up 40 minutes late for my appointment? Why is it ok that you are allowed to do the same? Why even book appointments? In summary, this place doesn't know how to appointment.

My company safety glasses policy switched from Family Eye care a I had to get glasses from the cheaper commercial store the lenses are horrible, I have to look sideways for any reading .. blaaa yuk! I ended up taking my old frames back here for purchas of new frames and lenses swap.. the old scrip lenses are 100% better. Family eye care is way above the rest in care and sevice. I live 50 miles away and will drive here for the great care and service and pay out of pocket. Thank you sooo much for being great people.

I enjoy the staff and the service I receive from Dr. Ferguson. I have received nothing but great quality service from him when it comes to my eye care. I have had multiple styes on my eye lids and let me say it was so bad that, my job was against me, but doctor had my back my eye was so swollen like Rocky hit me in it and infected. Thanks again everyone Mrs J
