Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Mandy Bristow  |  Rating: 5  |  Dr. Tavel Family Eye Care

I have taken my kids to many different places for their glasses in the past, but Dr. Tavel went above and beyond to take care of them. Heather is an absolute blessing, she’s kind, knowledgeable, helpful and very good at her job. I appreciate her help with my son’s contact order, the information provided for him and her conversation. The world could really use more people like her in it, so for that thank you. “Dr. I Ball” is super cool and made my boys feel super comfortable for their exams. Everyone there was really nice, thank you all. Superb job, we will see you again!

Jerred S  |  Rating: 5  |  South Grove Eye Care

I've been going to South Grove Eye Care for two years now and have been seen by both Dr. Harvey and Dr. Hoffman. Both are friendly and professional. I made the switch to a new kind of contacts last year and was also dealing with a stye and Dr. Hoffman helped me get rid of the stye and also suggested a new type of contacts that I have been very happy with. Dr. Harvey saw me this year and was very friendly and took the time to answer my questions. I would highly suggest SGEC to others.

Robin Unverzagt  |  Rating: 5  |  LensCrafters

Came into the Greenwood location to pick up a frame. Told Jordan why I wasn't going to get lens at Lens Crafters. We talked for a few he convinced me the pair of lens he had in mind. I was happy with the result he came up with. He saved me $70 and walked out very happy. Jordan is a great addition to your staff. He is knowledgeable, not pushy and is genuinely honest with the customers. Thanks Jordan!

Charlie Wilson  |  Rating: 5  |  Visionworks Doctors of Optometry

Kaylee gave excellent service when I came in today with my 91 year old father in law. She treated him with respect and understanding. Also, we forgot to order tinting with his new glasses and when I called back to add it they did not charge for it.

Jeff Mills  |  Rating: 1  |  Dirk Titus

I 100% agree with the previous review since they are now under the Ossip name the service is horrible. Doctor Titus is the best and has seen many generations of my family. From my grandparents, my father and his brother, my brother and for a short period of time my children. All of my family has stopped going to see Doctor Titus, not because of his service, but the lack of compassion and respect in the front office and with the techs that give you the various test. Your are nothing but a number to the Ossip organization. I wish you the best Doctor Titus. You ALWAYS did what's best for your clients.
