Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?
Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.
What should you do before buying glasses?
Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.
What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?
The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.
How do I know which glasses fit my face?
It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.
Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?
With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Vision 20/20 along with Dr Pham was the best experience I’ve ever had at an eye doctor’s appointment. The office was bright, had a great selection of frames, and they accept many forms of insurance. Dr Pham was able to see and identify what problems it’s me eyesight I was having right away. His solution was right on and with my insurance I ended up paying only $40 for the exam and the new glasses and lenses. The lenses were progressive and light sensitive. I would highly recommend Vision 20/20.

What a wonderful experience! I am not exaggerating: With Polina's excellent help and service, I spent maybe -- MAYBE -- ten minutes choosing the perfect frames and providing the store with all the documents needed to order the lenses. My new glasses were ready in less than a week! Fabulous store. Highly recommended!

My teenage son and I have been going to Evanston Eye Care for the last 5 years. Paulina, who works the front desk and makes all the arrangements has always responded to calls and questions right away. She has gone over and beyond to help us when we had last minute needs. Now that the office is on main street we have also been very happy with Dr. Shapiro. She is kind and explains things very carefully, leaving the patient time to ask any questions or answer any concerns. Recently I had to pick out frames and was feeling very lost. Paulina spent over an hour listening to what I was looking for helping me decide. I am very happy with the frames she helped me pick and i get lots of compliments on them! Evanston eye care is professional, helpful and reliable. I would recommend them to anyone!

I recently visited Evanston Eye Care. I really liked the choice of modern eyeglass frames. The approach to the client was very professional from the optician Polina and the doctor Shapiro. On the advice of Polina the frame was correctly chosen. And the doctor chose lenses very accurately. The order was completed in the shortest possible time. I highly recommend Evanston Eye Care, you will be 100% satisfied.

Nate and Chuck and Dr. T deserve a six star review! I was able to get an appointment the same day and they were flexible with my schedule. Chuck had my insurance options prepared before I arrived, and had spent time with the insurance agent making sure I could utilize the best option available. After a very comprehensive exam, the doctor was able to update my contact prescription, and then Chuck and Nate gave me the great news that my insurance covered the exam and a year's supply of contacts, thanks to their efforts. It's always a pleasure to support a local business, but it's amazing to be the recipient of Big City Optical's stellar service.
