Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?
Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.
What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?
What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?
Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.
What should you do before buying glasses?
Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.
What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?
The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.
How do I know which glasses fit my face?
It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.
Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?
With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Today I brought a NEW frame (worth $305.2) to the store to get prescription lenses and I left with a BROKEN one. The assistant manager lost one of the screws on the frame while she was trying to take out the original lenses that came with the frame. Failing to find the original screw, I was offered 2 options: 1) put a replacement screw on, which does not fit with my frame at all. It stick out of the frame when put in; 2) contact the customer service. This option showed up many times in the store owner's responses to one star google reviews. However, there are issues/complains need to be fixed but they just won't. Obviously, these 2 options are not acceptable. The assistant manager lost the screw just in front of me and refuse to be responsible for it. They did not even have a courtesy to admit that it was their fault that the screw was lost. They kept saying it is the company's policy that they are not responsible for a frame purchased outside the store, even though I brought a NEW one and the assistant manager unpacked it in front of me! I would give a zero if I could. Be careful with this LensCrafters store located in Champaign!

I went to CU eyecare because my regular eye doctor was closed during the pandemic. However, I have had 3 appointments here so far and I still do not have contacts. The reason for this is because at my first fitting, they only ordered 2 out of the 3 brands they were supposed to order. The 2 that I got to try did not fit well, so I went back for another fitting. We found a brand that I really liked, so they told me they would order them and we could reconvene in 1-2 weeks. It has been 2 weeks so I decided to call. Turns out, they not only FORGOT to order the contacts, but they also messed up the charges for my appointments. I wish I had just waited it out and gone to my regular doctor, because they have never done anything like this.

Don’t get your glasses here, just get your exam/prescription, if anything. and contacts are cheaper if you order through Walgreens. While Dr Sunday is kind, the woman that runs the glasses fitting/sales is obnoxious and a bit of a bully. With UIUC insurance they’ll overcharge you plenty. When my new glasses worsened my headaches they said they would not do returns even within a couple weeks (!) but just as a favor I suppose, they took them back and gave me half my money... I was out $200 but happy to be done dealing with this. I then tried my insurance with Target optical and for really nice frames and premium poly lenses with all the frills (anti reflective/scratch/UV, etc) I spent only $70 total. You know what takes the cake? They assured me the glasses are 100% returnable with my receipt. Expensive lesson learned...

2 different experience, loved my optometrist, but the first technician didn't listen to me. Only wanted to spend my insurance money and more. She was focused on the top of the line frames. She was only focused on what I had years ago. When I had a FSA. I didn't have that now. Went home very upset. 2 months later. I decided if they wouldn't listen I would order online only. Walked in the previous tech was busy. Alexis motioned me over. She listened to me, she understood my budget, she steered to frames I could afford, and worked with me and my budget. I felt like a person, not a number. Alexis was absolutely wonderful

Came here once when I was younger, the associates at this location were incredibly rude and unprofessional. When I visited I was underage, probably in my early teens, and they refused to let me buy adult glasses, saying I had to wear glasses from the children's section. The ones designated for children were too small for my head and yet they still wouldn't let me buy the glasses that actually fit. They were so rude we left without anything.
