Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

The retail clerks are friendly and helpful, and there is a large selection of frames, but the optometrists aren’t the best. My prescription was weakened, the reader strength is the same on each lens but my eyes read at different distances and the astigmatism prescription is incorrect. I went back and a second optometrist claimed the prescription was correct. I can get by in the daytime but I can’t drive with the glasses at night. Too much glare and double vision with lights. I have to go back to my old glasses when driving that have the correct prescription. Guess I shouldn’t have changed from my previous optometrist. I wanted a larger frame selection to choose from. My mistake and I wear progressives so a very expensive mistake. I had the same issues in the past with Lenscrafter. No more big chains for me.

Have been going to batavia walmart for many years now and have gotten my glasses here as well they are all very courteous ,always have a smile and ready to help. Wish I could say the same for when you call the main number and need to talk to customer service or an associate. It is impossible. It cannot happen. They will not answer no matter how many times you call or let it ring they simply hang up. The pharmacy told us the samwe thing that people call them to try and help them get through. This is sad that we have to bother the pharmacy when another dept. Is being so unprofessional. I go to anothe walmart now because the are multitaskers and do a terrific job of answering the phone while handling returns as well/ maybe the mgr of batavia could help them learn how to do this as well. Then everyone would would wear a smile as well.

Had broken my glasses and needed an updated eye exam. With one call i was able to set up an appointment and get in right away. They were all extremely kind and even, as a single dad, let me bring my kids in. To top it off one of the team members, Newney, even helped me pick out glasses that not only fit well, but fit my "style" as well. She was amazing with my kids too. I definitely recommend this location. Im going there from now on! So grateful for their amazing customer service and kindness.

I have taken 2 children here & both times had amazing experiences. My 5 year old had her 1st check up for kindergarten & everyone was very patient & nice with her. My 3 (almost 4) year old failed an eye test in preschool so had her 1st check up & same wonderful experience. She ended up needed glasses & the entire process was quick & simple
