Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I went to the location on Lake Joy a few months back for an eye exam & glasses that I knew I would need. The exam was thorough & went well. Glasses were needed which I expected. Frame selection is nice. You're sure to find what you like. Then comes lens selection where they give you info & pricing. Another thorough part of the overall process. The people at Brown's are nice. Once my glasses arrived they checked fitment. It was amazing how much better I could see. The progressive lenses took a bit to get used to. Anyway I haven't had any issues whatsoever with my glasses. I would recommend Brown's for anyone looking to get an eye exam or getting glasses. -Sean Adams (happy customer)

We went to see Tyshawn today. She was so nice and professional. She was patient and took care of our needs quickly. That was unexpected at a Walmart but it was awesome! We highly recommend doing business with them!

Staff was very friendly and helpful! They provided me very quick service as well- I was a walk in for an eye and contact exam and they had me in and out of there in like 30 minutes with everything I needed. Thanks for a good visit to your vision center!

Went here for several years...until I ran out of contacts and they didn't have an appt for over 2 months. They refused to give me any samples etc to get me by until that appt date. I can't wear glasses due to a deviated septum so I couldn't drive or work. I called 3 other eye Dr and they all indicated this happens from time to time and they would Def come up with a solution. Ended up finding another eye Dr and they got me in and also figured out my script was way off. So long story short this is money mill asking you for extra 25 for normal test w other providers and no individual treatment when needed. Good until it's not. Keep this is mind when your considering where to go regarding one of your most important assets: your eyes!

I have been here four times, twice for exams and the other two for adjustments/fitting. I order my contacts through them monthly. The prices are great and everyone has always been nice. The opthamologists (have seen both) are knowledgeable and accurate. They take our vision insurance. It's always fast and easy. My 10 year old was recently fitted for contacts. The lady who helped her was super patient.
