Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Taylor  |  Rating: 1  |  Visionworks Mall Of Georgia

I visited this location on November 7th, 2022. This was my first time at vision works and unfortunately my last time thanks to the young lady named Nia. Nia, a tall brownskin girl with glasses and a very large disheveled wig, was very rude and unprofessional to me the entire time i was in her care. She called my name while i was in the waiting room but mumbled so I could barely hear her so it took me a moment to figure out she was calling my name because I couldn’t understand what she was saying. Once I respond and got up to walk with her to the b eyes iand she started speed walking to the back causing me to have to rush behind her to keep up with her. Once we were in the back area she started asking questions to get a bit of background on my medical history. But everytime I answered her question she kept asking me to repeat and reexplain my answers to her. There’s no way she could have forgotten the information i told her directly to her face more than three times within five seconds. Especially considering its a large part of her daily responsibilities of her job. I felt she was intentionally giving me a hard time because she had a nasty attitude problem with me. She then told me to have a seat in the waiting room but did not get up to direct me or specify which waiting room to sit in so i got turned around and headed back towards the front waiting area and only afterwards was I directed to the appropriate waiting area. Then a few weeks later she called me to let me know my contacts were ready to be picked up. I answered the phone and she asked if she was speaking with “Taylor”. I said yes and before i could even finish my sentence to ask who was calling before continuing the conversation, she rushed and cut me off and said, “This is Nia from vision works your contacts are ready…”. I hung up on her because i was so irritated with how incredibly rude she was for absolutely no reason at all. People like her should not work in customer service jobs or anywhere around people. I will not be visiting this location again.

I had an excellent experience at this location as always. Today I was a walk in customer, but they were able to take care of me. The entire staff was very warm and welcoming. The level of service they provided was exceptional and exceeded expectations. Special thank to Michelle for leading the team in such a high standard.

Chris Adkins  |  Rating: 1  |  Dr. Bruce E. Reid & Associates

Have had eye exams here before. Made an appointment for today. They called to confirm and said my insurance would pay for all but the retinal imaging. I said I was ok with doing the dilation and didn't want to upgrade that the insurance doesn't cover. The staff member said "if you are going to get your eyes examined here you will get the imaging".... fine I'll go some place else.

Very poor customer services in The Georgia mall location. Too long waiting time even when we had an appointment. Waiting time for glasses is three weeks and no calls. We have to keep calling them asking whether is it ready to pick up, never answer the calls, it’s always automatic messages. After three weeks my glasses were ready and we went to pick up the glasses, it was the wrong glasses and another two weeks to get the right one. After we got the right glasses the prescription given was all wrong, and when we went in they asked what they should do about it now. I will never recommend vision works, when asked to make an appointment they refused and asked us to just walk in.The staff is there are all incredibly rude. They do not have patience for foreigners.

Updated to add: their CS called me and said I have to go back to the store. The store that has no organization, long wait times and not enough staff for their appointments, let alone walk ins. I removed a star for all around poor customer service. I would NEVER recommend visionworks ever.. I am giving it a 3 because the doctor and the service in store the first time was good. Follow up times are not good. Waited in line for 30 minutes to pick up glasses. Not enough staff. Also no organization. 2 people helping the same customer for whatever the reason, while a line formed out into the mall. Then, I have an issue with a pair of glasses we purchased from here, can't just drop in as I don't have hours to spend waiting, hoping to call to get script, as we should have a back up pair anyway, and was hung up on 3 times after going through the frustrating "Amelia" customer service menu. They say to chat, that goes no where because it's also "Amelia", and have to wait for someone to get back to me. In the mean time, we have glasses that don't work as designed. Automation doesn't work when serving health care type needs. Will not be back once we get the issue repaired.
