Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I had a GREAT experience here! The staff were all very friendly, the store was clean, and my doctor was really attentive. I felt very heard in my questions and concerns. I was very happy with my visit.

Jim Schoen  |  Rating: 5  |  St. Petersburg Eye Care Specialists (SPECS)

Top Notch - Were able to give me a same day appt due to a cancellation and had a great experience with Dr. Camargo and team - very professional, courteous and good prices. Had been putting off the annual eye exam after relocation from California and a bad experience with another eye care firm (Gulf Coast). SPECS is now my Eye Care practitioner of choice. :) Thanks SPECS

Bill Robey  |  Rating: 5  |  Optical Outlets

My Mom(Kathy) and I had a wonderful experience at Optical Outlets. We haven't been to an eye doctor in a while and were nervous about what we would find out. The eye doctors we saw were very nice and made us feel comfortable and our eyes are doing very well. Once the exams were over with, Eva and Chloe, were very nice, knowledgeable and answered all our questions about the glasses we're getting. Eva was the one that finished taking care of us. Eva was very helpful and took the time with us to make us feel comfortable on what glasses we were purchasing. We are definitely going back to Optical Outlet especially with Eva being the office manager and the way Eva manages the outlet so efficiently! Everyone there works well together. We will definitely refer our family and friends to Optical Outlets Tyrone Square Mall. Sincerely, Bill Robey and my Mom Kathy

Jennifer Lindley  |  Rating: 5  |  VIP Eye Care & Optical Boutique

The entire team at VIP is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I had a late-day appointment and still didn’t have to wait long at all to see the doctor. Dr Henri is so thorough and efficient in her examinations and provides cutting-edge strategies and technology to address my eye issues. This is by far my favorite office of all my medical specialists. They are also very good at making sure that I’m maximizing the full benefits of my vision insurance. I would never consider going anywhere else for my eye health.

Convenient location. Everyone was very friendly. The tech and the doctor were both very thorough in explaining everything. One of the best eye exams I’ve had! Will continue to use this location for my eye care needs.
