Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Bay Street Optical has the best selection of frames and high quality lenses in the area. Valerie has always helped me find exactly what I needed. I have gotten both prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses from there and have worn them for several years with no problems. I also had a repair done previously due to sitting on my glasses. They were very quick to get my glasses back to me and you couldn’t even tell they were previously damaged!

What a great place, Dr.Loar and staff are so professional and courteous. The office staff bend over backwards to help you in anyway, and Dr. Loar is so professional, patient, and kind, so very glad I found them when we moved to Florida. I highly recommend them for any and all your needs concerning your eyes. Thank you Ocean View Optical. Dave an LiZa Santoro Sebastian Florida

If I could give this place a million stars I would. I went in today for a contact lens exam and Dr. Loar and her staff were AMAZING. They definitely knew what they were doing and very friendly. Dr. Loar really made sure she covered all her bases since I have a weird prescription. And I thank her for that. And the young lady that helped me get my contact in well one her eyeliner was bomb. And two she gave me a lot of pointers and didnt pressure me or made me feel bad when my contacts kept sticking to my fingers. And can we also mention the office ?! Its BEAUTIFUL. A lot of eye Drs I have been to in the past the office is boring and blah. But this one is open. Lots of windows, nice furniture and just all around great. And they also take care credit which is great since I dont have insurance. Thanks Dr. Loar and her staff!

My husband needed new eyeglasses, and went for an exam in which they never told him that he had cataracts. He was having difficulty seeing at night, and did not know what was happening. He paid 400 dollars out of pocket for his new glasses, and they broke a week after he had them. They did replace the glasses, however because he had cataracts his vision did not improve, and thought he had received a faulty prescription. I then scheduled him for an exam at LensCrafters, and the opthomologist explained he would not see clearly until he had cataract surgery to correct his vision, after which he would most likely not need eyeglasses. So, instead of receiving a referral for cataract surgery, he purchased very expensive glasses that he did not need. Also, a month after the second eye exam, the second set of eyeglasses broke. Save your money, and go somewhere else.
