Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I love this store in the Gardens Mall. David is the best. He helped me pick out exactly the right frames for my face. He also explained in detail about the lenses that have my bi-focal subscription and the coatings that go on the lenses for protection, etc. I have sent my very best friend to David for an eye exam and new glasses. We will not be going anywhere else from now on for glasses.

Beautiful office! Wonderful and friendly staff! Amazing doctors! I took my 3 kids there to get their eyes checked and could not be more impressed with this office. They took great care of my kids and Dr Brandee Marciano explained everything in detail to me. I would definitely recommend this office to anyone :)

Lynn Mabry  |  Rating: 5  |  Contact Lens Associates

Bill was spot on with my multifocal contact lens prescription. I have been a contact lens wearer for over 30 years and have alway had trouble getting the right prescription and fit. When I began to experience presbyopia I wore my contacts and just used little cheaters. My visual experience was becoming quite distressing as my eyes began to change. A friend of mine told me about her great new multifocal contacts that help her see near, far and in-between flawlessly and she's so happy to not have to fuss with her glasses all the time anymore. I did not even know that multifocal lenses were a thing yet and was excited but skeptical to move forward with it. My friend said that I have to go to Bill because he is a contact lens specialist, another thing I didn't know at the time that was a thing. I made an appointment with Bill still knowing it will take many trials to get things right if at all but I was willing to take a chance because the stress of not seeing well was really getting to me. He expertly analyzed my vision and chose lenses for me. The SECOND I put the first one on my life was back in HD. The prescription and contacts he chose made my vision better than I ever remember. I was astonished ALL day at how much ease and clam having great vision returned to my life. The struggle was over and all in one trip! I have been in the lenses now for over a month and I am still thrilled. I want everyone to experience how wonderful it is to have great vision again. I highly recommend Contact Lens Associates. Thank you Bill Roll!

Chandra Rabenecker  |  Rating: 5  |  Jeffrey D. Hixenbaugh, OD PA

Dr. Hixenbaugh corrected a previous prescription that was giving me headaches and dizziness. Now I have 3 wonderful pairs of glasses for reading, computer work and driving.. and NO HEADACHES. Thank you! The exam process was a breeze, the technology the office offers is top of the line and the staff helping with eyeglass selection made for a perfect fit. They were even able to take my favorite pair of sunglasses and fit them with new lenses. I highly recommend this office.
