Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Love that all the staff are prioritizing health & safety standards. Michele Soto assisted me with my purchase and she was absolutely wonderful. I felt confidant with her recommendations and her knowledge. I am so thankful I came in!

Walesby Vision is the best ever! Gina and Jamie have become like family. I have been going to WVC for many years and will continue with them as long as possible. Dr Thomas is wonderful. Many years ago i had a serious eye injury and Dr Thomas was so concerned about my condition that he called me from his personal nmber very late in the evening to check on me and see how i was doing. He actually saved my vision! I LOVE this practice....they are the best!

I brought my son ( Corey) back because he was still having issues with his eyes. Dr. Thomas was great. He prescribed him new eye drops and a new steroid. We had trouble finding a place that had the steroid drops and was in our price range. Jamey took over the whole situation. She even did it on her own time! What an incredible person she is! What an awesome office! My whole family will continue to praise this practice! Thank you Walesby Vision!

Doctor Nick is the best and helped these 61 year old eyes see so much better in contacts! Great improvement! And Jamie is fantastic at the front desk and in the room doing tests. I really couldn't ask for a better doctor and technician.

Dr. Fritz of Walmart Optical (Oldsmar, FL) Dr. Fritz advised me that I needed a new lens for one eye when I was still in the process of being evaluated for cataract surgery for BOTH eyes. Someone with his knowledge in the process should have KNOWN no lens should have been ordered until finding out the final outcome of the cataracts. Instead, he told me I needed the new lens when in reality, no one was really sure yet. After getting the results of the surgery, I had cataracts in both eyes and needed new corrective lenses, I returned to Dr. Fritz and asked for a credit, NOT a refund, just a credit to apply (what I just spent on this lens he knew I did not need) to my new lenses for both eyes that I now would need after the surgery. Dr. Fritz and his office refused to give me a credit to apply to the new subscription. I did not want my money back, I simply just wanted what he knew I didn't need and the money I spent on that to be applied to now what I did need. It was poor customer service. In my opinion, extremely unethical as well as a complete lack of empathy. I wouldn't want anyone else to be treated this way. - Cj M. Palm Habor, FL
