Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

All of the employees were pleasant, friendly, and welcoming. They efficiently completed my eye exam, explained the options available for new glasses/frames, and did not try to hard sell me on a purchase. In particular the doctor took the time to explain what the tests were telling her about the condition of my eyes. This extra time and detail gave me added confidence in the quality of the eye exam. Her expert assistance allowed me to make an informed decision regarding what I needed and what I did not need.

I want to preface this by saying I have had really good experience with Optical Outlets in the past. I have used them for a few years now with no complaints. However, yesterday the doctor conducting my eye exam did not listen to me. He kept blocking the mirror when asking me to read letters and "one or two." I told him multiple times that I could not see and that letters were still blurry once he moved out of the way. The doctor decreased my prescription and sent me home with a pair of trial contacts. I work on the computer all day as an accountant, so I did not notice anything wrong until after logging off at the end of the day. I went to watch one of my streaming apps, and I could not read the choose profile screen with the trial contacts. It was unfocused to the point of getting nauseous. I went back this morning after calling Optical Outlets last night (it was right as they closed that I realized the prescription was wrong). I was told that I had to have the same doctor change my prescription, but he was not due back at that location until June. The best they could do was email him to change my prescription back to my old one, but if that did not work I had to wait to have him re-examine. I was sent home without a new prescription or contacts, but I will go back later today to pick up a new trial pair once it is okayed and I am able to leave my desk. I do not know why I could not have been examined by the doctor on shift today - I was not given a reason. I honestly will probably go somewhere else because I do not have faith in the prescription. Yes, my old one was "fine" but I told them that I was starting to have trouble reading the smaller street signs while driving. Very frustrated and disappointed.

The experience with the exam part was fine. But when I have to pick up my glasses was the worst experience. They call me and said one pair was ready but they have to return it. Then no one call me and I get there today to verify the status and the 2 pairs of glasses were ready after more than 3 weeks. The service was slow and My surprise was bigger after I pay closest to 500.00 (not on any offer ) I don’t receive any decent case or at least a cleaning cloth. Other places always give decent cases and also a cloth. Just a suggestion

Big thank you to Americas Best! We are from WV and were in Florida when my husband’s rimless eyeglass lens fell out. I called Americas Best and asked if they could repair them for us…. The very helpful and friendly lady told me to bring them right in and they would be happy to fix them free of charge! When I arrived at the store I was greeted with a smile. They said they could fix them within the hour. When I picked them up after being repaired Matthew told me his also replaced the nose pieces free of charge because my husband’s old ones were dirty! It was a very pleasant experience and highly recommend Americas Best in Davenport, FL! Thanks again!

The staff who work at the Posner park location deserve a raise! They’re working in under staffed, over booked circumstances and they’re absolutely killing it! Thank you Venise for the laughs and the exceptional service! Looking forward to my next appt with optical outlets!
