Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Just had an amazing experience with the whole team at Eyecare and Eyewear! Dr. Wigdor is so warm, personable and very knowledgeable. He put my daughter who came for her first eye exam at ease with his humor. Everyone at the office was so warm and friendly. Jonathan was a champ at helping her choose her frames and Carolina was a doll with helping her with her fitting. She got it right on the first try! Jimmy added a warm charm and smile. What a great experience!

Last month I went to Oberti's place and there's a beautiful black girl, she's from Haiti. She took time to walk and explain everything I was supposed to know about the frame that I wanted to buy. I received my glasses 1 week after and I'm very satisfied with their service. I'd definitely go back there for more glasses.

Oscar took my glasses to determine my current RX fir new lens. When we asked a number of questions regarding new sunglass lens, he was not very interested. He provided a minimum of service. We had to keep asking questions as he offered little information. He calculated the order and came up with a price of almost $500 for two replacement lens! We were using our own Valentino frames (from a prior Lenscrafters order.) We were quoted about $370 by the assistant manager! It was “corrected”, but we felt we had to watch every step! At checkout, we wanted to pay a 50% deposit, as in the past—we were adamantly refused! We were told that “…no such policy exists! We MUST pay in full. (Really not nice!) We also had to INSIST that our reciept be marked that this shop had the Valentino frames. There was negative posturing by Oscar and the assistant manager. (These are costly frames. Could they be lost ?) This is NOT the old Lenscrafters known for FRIENDLY and courteous service. We are asking family and friends to recommend another source. This is the most unprofessional place I’ve ever been to. My boyfriend came in for an eye exam and was told trial contacts would come in a couple days. We are going on week 4 and still have not received his trial contacts. We have contacted the store several times with no response. Finally spoke to Daniel Oberti himself where he told us we’d get a refund for the eye exam and he’d call us back- he still has not called us back A WEEK LATER! DO NOT GO HERE! Save your time and money and go somewhere else. This is the worst place ever.

This place is amazing! The employees are amazing at making you feel welcomed. They all helped me pick out glasses i am OBSESSED with. Overall my experience was great, even the doctor was extremely helpful! The best person in there is Chelsea! She taught me how to put contacts in for the first time and was very sweet and patient.
