Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

Emir Sfaxi  |  Rating: 1  |  Warby Parker Georgetown

Warby parker experience is overall deceiving and disappointing. First, I need to admit that the staff is nice and genuine. However, they could be incompetent. Here is my experience with Warby Parker: I ordered my glasses and payed, they suggested a $30 addition to the lenses (that is never mentioned on their websites, they advertise as all in thin lenses). When I complained about it, I was reimbursed by the store manager for the extra I payed (+1 to Warby Parker). I received the email notification that my glasses were ready. I went the following day to pick up my glasses and found out that they did a mistake on the prescription! (they had it scanned by did enter the references on the wrong column). They reordered my glasses and confirmed that they will come back in 4 business days. I never heard from them. I had to call myself the customer service to ask why they are taking so much time! The customer service said they did a mistake on the order again! I waited more time and sent an email, that of course, they didn't respond to. I went finally to pick-up my glasses yesterday, ordered on November 3rd, received on November 20th. The technicians adjusting the frames were again nice, but incompetent. I finally have my glasses, they are not well adjusted. I wouldn't recommend Warby Parker, poor customer service, staff that lacks professionalism. It's cheap and honestly appears to be a great quality product, but the experience in the store and with the customer service are just horrible.

Kyle Klein  |  Rating: 5  |  idoc Optical: Nastaran Khoshbin Golriz, OD

I recently switched to idoc Optical after going to a chain eyeglass store for years. The experience was fantastic, and I only wish I had started coming to Dr. Golriz and the team sooner! The customer service team was professional, friendly, and helped me figure out the best frames for me. They also made sure to get me the best deal possible with my insurance. Dr. Golriz was also great and helped identify an updated prescription and needed follow-up care. I'm looking forward to being a patient and client for years to come.

Crystal Anderson  |  Rating: 1  |  Washington Eye Care

Please don’t go here unless you truly have no other place to go they only have one doctor no grace period is offered. They call and rush you to your appointment the day of. As if they didn’t call the days before to confirm. Get there and still have to wait. Unpleasant staff

Daniel Sweeney  |  Rating: 5  |  Warby Parker Georgetown

Have to admit, before I came in I really did not know much about Warby Parker. I have been looking for a new pair of sunglasses for a little while, and just wasn't seeing anything in the style I wanted, for the right price. I normally were sporty pairs from Oakley, and was looking for something different. We were down in Georgetown doing some shopping and decided to stop in to see some of their styles and if they were running any deals. They had free ice cream that day, which was great to have while trying on shades. But I was so impressed with their selection, and I found 3 different pair of sunglasses I was actually prepared to buy. I finally decided on one, and I went to the table to check out. The staff was friendly and made sure she knew exactly what I wanted to get me a new clean pair. The price for a beautiful pair of Polarized sunglasses was excellent, and I could not be happier with them. Overall it was a great experience, and I will definitely be back when I am in the market for a new pair.

Polly M.  |  Rating: 5  |  Dr. Stephen Lobaugh Eye Rx

This review is very overdue but I would like to share my experience with Dr lobaugh. I have a complicated eye situation due to family history of retinal issues and extreme far sightedness. He is always thorough and explains everything. Also, his office is very well run and it is easy to make appointments. Most importantly, he and his well run office were a god send earlier this year when I suddenly developed a cornea ulcer. He got me in within two hours of calling his office, diagnosed my issue, made a treatment plan, and found a way to cut the cost of my prescription to a 1/5 of what it would have been without his assistance. Additionally, I was not an easy patient as I was in extreme pain and very freaked out. Despite this he treated me with the utmost respect, was very reassuring but honest about what was going to happen. In the end I had to go back for many follow ups but after two weeks I was basically good as new. The people in his office were incredibly kind as well and I felt very reassured being in their cares. I really can’t say enough good things about Dr lobaugh and his team.
