Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I have been a customer of the Kennedy and Perkins in Orange CT for many years. On July 6, 2020 I required new lenses and frame. Michele assisted me that day. Since I wear glasses all day many issues needed to be considered in choosing new glasses. I had a fabulous experience that day! The day I picked up the the new glasses they looked and felt great!Thank you. Betty Ann

I had my eye examination here, but some human error happened. They are active to amend the error. The experience was overall good. I thereby changed my ratings. Please see the original comments below. ----------original comments below------------ I had terrible experiences here! The doctor was impatient when examining my eyes. WORST thing is they mistakenly gave me a wrong prescription! I did not realize until I got my glasses made already! I made two pairs of them! Because of their faults, I have to have them remake! I actually wore those for a few days, can't see things clearly, then I realized the glasses might be wrong. When I came to them, they just gave me a correct prescription, without doing anything else! I have to go to Costco again to return my glasses and have the remake. Is there any way I can complain this place officially! They wasted me a lot time..... TERRIBLE!!

I've been going to The Eye Group for 34 years, since I almost lost my vision. You see, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and it is in my eyes too. Vision is very important, so don't wait until it's to late. I'm so thankful that my RA Dr. Refered me to this Group. The staff is very caring and helpful. Thank you to all at The Eye Care

Kathy Lombardozzi  |  Rating: 5  |  Kennedy & Perkins Opticians - Orange

My husband and myself have had very positive experience at Kennedy and Perkins. Employee Cathy is unbelievable she is responsive ,personable, very knowledgeable certainly a subject matter expert on eye glass, frames, etc. One of the main reasons we switched from their competitor is due to following Cathy with her expertise. I would highly recommend K & P. Regards Peter and Kathy Lombardozzi

Rebecca Macdonald  |  Rating: 5  |  Kennedy & Perkins Opticians - Orange

I came to Kennedy & Perkins Orange location right at the re-opening after COVID-19. Sarah helped me pick out the perfect pair of glasses that helped with my professional needs as well as my comfort and style needs. She took the time to separate each frame after I tried them on for cleaning before putting them away, which I appreciated greatly due to the concerns I had about anyone just grabbing and trying on whatever they wanted. This was not the case here, I pointed to the ones I wanted to try, along with Sarah’s suggestions and she took them out herself. Clearly this store takes sanitation seriously which is so important during a time like this. The staff (Sarah, Zwindy, and Dr. Vermund) were masked and displayed respect, courtesy, and friendliness during a time that is so full of high strung and stressed people. Dr. Vermund was extremely thorough and very knowledgeable. He took his time to check the health of my eyes during my exam and asked me questions and was open to answering any questions I had. I highly recommend him for eye exams as he checks for everything and uses precision and takes the time and effort to wash his hands and equipment multiple times during the exam. This location made my eyewear needs easy, stress free, and enjoyable during a time where stress and unprofessionalism is at an all time high. I am very grateful for these young women and the doctor for creating a welcoming environment.
