Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Include: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services.

Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

While I was on vacation, I scratched a lens on my glasses. I found Darien Eyecare and I am very thankful that I did. I went there and met Christine. She was not only able to read my prescription but was able to order a replacement lens within a week. This is a great small business owned by Mary and Woody. The prices are very reasonable and the customer service by everyone was outstanding.

Darien Eye Care is the most professional and caring optical store. From individualized service for frame and lens selection, Mary and Woody are there to help you choose the eye wear that will best suit your needs. They do their own lab work and deliver the completed glasses in a most timely manner. They adjust your glasses to insure a correct fit. Every step of the way, they are there for you. The store is immaculate and the selection of frames is excellent. This is the place to go!

I've been going to Darien Eye Care since 2012. Their Quality of eyeglasses carried is excellent as well as having great variety. Their level of service is highly professional. I just ordered my 4th pair of new glasses today, based on a slight adjustments in my prescription. My wife had also been buying her eyeglasses at Darien Eye Care. We both recommend this establishment. It is a pleasure shopping there. Both Woody and Mary are most helpful. I require opthomology care, otherwise I would use their optometry service which is on premise.

Had such a positive experience with the folks at Darien Eye Care. So helpful in picking out frames -- really knowledgeable and nice people. So happy I decided to go there. Picked out prescription frames and sunglasses. Thrilled with how they came out. Their selection is so chic! Highly highly recommend on all counts.

There isn't too much that I can say that hasn't been said already. By a couple of the other reviews. The store itself is great and in an easy to get to location right off of Post Road, just to the East of downtown Darien. You walk into a clean and comfortable environment with an excellent selection of spectacles (better known as glasses for you young kids out there), and if you aren't initially greeted by Woody or Mary, you're welcomed by Bella, their beautiful pup. I believe it was Dr. Rutherford who gave me my eye exam, which was one of the best eye exams I've received since moving out to Connecticut 5 years ago. I did not feel rushed, and he was thorough and uses some great modern technology for your exam. I will definitely be using him again for my annual exam. As for the selection of spectacles I mentioned, Mary and Woody offer their opinion, which is very helpful, for which frames look great on you, and which ones best fit your facial features. Granted, we all have our own preferences, but they definitely lead me in a great direction and helped me narrow down to a solid 2 or 3 pair, which I gladly picked my favorite. They also accept a variety of insurance programs, which for me was very helpful since they accepted mine, as did the eye doctor for my exam. Now, here is the icing on the cake. I recently, and accidentally sat on my glasses that were purchased several months ago, and it looked as if I might need to order new frames. Woody was able to work his magic, and repair my frames, at an unbelievable cost. It didn't hurt my wallet one bit, the only way I can really return the favor is by letting you know you should go here and hopefully you'll bless them with your business as well. I guess you'll just have to see for yourself...(yup, pun intended).
