Who is an optometrist and what does he or she do?

Optometry is a branch of ophthalmology that specializes in methods of correcting vision using optometric aids. An optometrist is a specialist who determines the degree of vision impairment and prescribes corrective aids such as glasses and contact lenses.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

What is the difference between the profession of an optometrist and an ophthalmologist? An optometrist only provides initial diagnosis and can only treat refractive errors with conservative methods.

What does an optometrist do?

Functionality: eye examinations, selection of types of vision correction (glasses, lenses), recommendations on eyeglass lens designs and contact lens materials, and advanced medical services. Why do eyeglasses cost so much?

Eyeglasses are a complex optical device that is manufactured with high-precision equipment. Often expensive materials are used for the glasses. All of this explains why eyeglasses can be expensive.

What should you do before buying glasses?

Let's look at what to look for when buying eyeglasses. The first is, of course, quality. The second is the choice of lenses of glasses. Here we focus attention on the material: they can be either glass or plastic. The third is the choice of frames.

What's the difference between expensive glasses and cheap glasses for vision?

The quality and accordingly the price of the lens depends on the presence of coatings on the lenses. The higher the price, the more coatings on the lens. Coatings make our vision more comfortable. Lens manufacturers do not stand still and improve the quality of lenses.

How do I know which glasses fit my face?

It's best if the width of the frame is equal to or slightly larger than the widest part of your face. The upper line of the frames should coincide with the line of eyebrows. Smooth shapes of glasses will emphasize rounded curves of the face. To emphasize high cheekbones choose the "butterfly" or "cat-eye" glasses.

Where can I see better with glasses or contact lenses?

With lenses, you can see better, so it turns out that extra obstacles don't distort the image. Lenses don't shed dust, don't catch glare from the sun and don't distort peripheral vision-no matter where we look, the image stays sharp.

I have to admit, my expectations weren’t that high going to BJ’s, but I figured the prices would be good so I gave it a try. To my surprise I called and got a quick eye exam appointment. When I saw Dr. Andreas Gounaris, I was amazed at how thorough he was. He explained everything. I’ve never had a more thorough exam, and he was such a nice person. The person helping me with the eyeglasses was just as helpful and thorough. I was very well taken care of and everyone should go there to have such a great experience…

Dr. Gounaris is a fantastic doctor who is very caring and compassionate. A true professional and one of those rare doctors that truly listens to the patient. He has many years of experience and you can sense that when he speaks to you. A+ and highly recommend him.

Summary: They made a mistake on the prescription of one of my glasses, but other than that I received excellent service. They even fixed a broken pair for free. I had two prescriptions, one for short, one for long. They gave me the long distance prescription on both frames. The first pair came with something wrong about the lenses such that it made me sick to wear them. Update: They fixed the pair of glasses, and luckily it turned out that the prescription for my far distance glasses was actually not that strong and it ended up being useful to have a backup pair of glasses. Update 2: One of the pairs broke after several years, but they fixed it in 15 minutes for free.

Wont be going back for glasses at this store. Rude and unprofessional. Without looking up my insurance he told me little to nothing was covered, SMH! Tried to buy new frames and lenses and he said the Dr. script was wrong and he will not fill it, BJs filled the same script 2 month earlier no problem. Costco needs to better manage this department and rehire at this optical location, read the other reviews, the employee(s) are disgruntled and disruptive telling another customer next to me they close in 1hr but optical will close in 15 minutes, basically get out. If people don't want to work there don't keep them in that department. So many other people would be grateful for that job and represent Costco so much better. Why is this acceptable after so many of the same negative reviews.

Great service from Dr. Gounaris and Maranda. After 20 years with another firm, I came to BJ's Optical based on web reviews/research. Yes, they were accurate. Staff was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. For sure will return....
